A Word From Our Principal Mr. Agee
Dear Parents,
As we stride into the end of the year with the month of May, there's a whirlwind of activities and events happening at Pacific Intermediate. Here's a rundown of what to expect:
**Glow Dance Extravaganza**: Mark your calendars for May 3rd from 3pm to 4:15pm. Our Glow Dance promises to be an electrifying event where students can show off their moves and glow in the dark! It's an occasion not to be missed, so make sure your child is ready to dance the afternoon away. Students eligible were given invitations.
**MAP Testing Alert**: At the dawn of May, MAP testing will be in full swing. To ensure our students are well-fueled for their exams, we're providing free breakfast every testing day. A hearty breakfast lays the foundation for a successful day of testing, so let's make sure our students start their mornings right!
**Showcasing Talent**: On May 9th, get ready to be dazzled by the extraordinary talents of our students at the Pacific High School gym. The Talent Show starts at 6 pm, and it promises to be an evening filled with awe-inspiring performances. Come out and support our budding stars!
**Breakfast of Champions**. May 14th we will be recognizing some of the best students we have at Pacific Intermediate for breakfast. Students receiving recognition will be given invitations to join us with their parents to recognize their accomplishments.
**Harmonious Notes**: Music enthusiasts, save the date for May 14th at 6pm in the 6th-grade Pacific Intermediate gym. Our Spring Band Concert is a showcase of musical brilliance, featuring the melodious tunes crafted by our talented young musicians. Join us for an evening of musical delight!
**Field Day Fun**: May 17th is set to be an exhilarating day packed with outdoor adventures as we celebrate Field Day. Note the rain date of May 20th just in case. It's a day for students to engage in friendly competition, team-building activities, and, most importantly, lots of fun!
**Club Day Update**: Due to MAP testing, April's Club Day has been rescheduled to May 22nd. It's a day for students to explore new interests, hobbies, and passions through our diverse array of clubs and extracurricular activities.
**School's Out Celebration**: The countdown to summer begins! May 23rd marks the last day of school, and students will be dismissed at noon. It's a bittersweet moment as we bid farewell to another fantastic school year filled with learning and growth.
**Looking Ahead to Summer**: While the school year may be winding down, the excitement continues into summer. Remember, the first day of summer school is June 3rd, offering enriching opportunities for students to continue their educational journey.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. Together, let's make May a month to remember!
Warm regards,

We are quickly wrapping up the school year and have enjoyed having your child in class this year. All of us hope they had a great 6th-grade year. Have a great summer and we hope that everyone has a successful 7th-grade year.
Math: Mrs. Voss & Mrs. Weil
As we wrap up the year, we will continue to practice our math skills. We will be learning different types of graphs while finishing our school year review. Please make sure your child is completing their assignments on a nightly basis. We have thoroughly enjoyed having your child in class this year.
Social Studies: Mr. Effan & Mr. Slaughter
We will be starting our last chapter, which is a mixture of Ancient Africa and Islam. We will also be preparing for our finals in the final weeks of school.
English: Mrs. Boling & Mrs. Stumborg
English students are currently working on using various print and internet sources to research an animal, person, or country. They will use the information they find to create a presentation to share with their classmates. We are focusing on not plagiarizing information, finding reliable sources, and citing sources. Next, students will be focusing on a Choose Your Own Adventure project where they can create multiple storylines for their classmates to follow.
Reading: Mrs. Carrico & Mr. McMahon
In reading class, we just completed our second novel of the year, The Unwanteds. We will continue to read in our textbook Unit 5 "Surviving the Unthinkable". The selections include fiction, nonfiction, media, and poetry. This has been a great year and the kids have gotten to experience a large variety of different literature.
Science: Mrs. Todahl & Mrs. Vondera
Students will wrap up the year with our Ecology unit. This unit will have more project-based assignments to finish out the year. Please continue to check Infinite Campus to make sure your student is completing their assignments. We had a fantastic year and enjoyed having your child in class this year.

Hello PI families!
MAP testing is in full swing. Ask your student how testing has been for them so far! Both 5th and 6th graders have been testing in English and Math. 5th graders have also been testing in science. Your continued assistance in getting your child to eat breakfast, get enough sleep, and arrive at school on time is greatly appreciated. School breakfast is free for all students during MAP testing.
The last day of school for students is Thursday, May 23rd and students will be dismissed at noon. May is a busy time of year as many students will be completing projects, testing, and saying goodbye to friends for the summer. We also have many fun activities to look forward to this month such as field day! Through all of the excitement it is important you are able to encourage your students that even though the year is almost over, the last few weeks are very important to grades. Try to help them stay on track with their classes, homework, tests, and effort. For those students doing well, working hard the remaining weeks will allow them to keep their grades up. Working hard the last few weeks for those struggling can make the difference between a passing and failing grade.
The counseling department has loved working with your students this year. We see their growth and abilities daily! Our 6th graders are beyond ready to move onto Riverbend, and we will certainly miss them. We are excited to see the people they grow into. 5th graders welcome to 6th grade! We look forward to seeing you again in August. Have the best and safest summer.
