Happy Friday!
It was a great week of teaching at Cliftondale! Teachers are teaching and students are learning.
📌However, parents we need your help! Over the last few weeks, we have had several incidences of student misconduct. Please speak with your student about his/her behavior while at school or on the school bus. Students exhibiting behavior that is in violation of FCS Code of Conduct will receive consequences as displayed within FCS Code of Conduct. This does include transportation. All students are permitted to ride FCS transportation. However, those with unsafe behavior will be removed from all FCS transportation for 3-5 days minimum and parents will be required to transport their student to and from school. Absences will not be excused for students whose parent/guardian is unable to provide transportation. Please speak with your students about his/her behavior. We take maintaining a safe and secure learning environment extremely serious for all Cliftondale students and staff members. Let's all work together to ensure that we have the best learning environment for all so that our students may continue to THRIVE! :)
Please see our school updates for the week ahead:

PARENT SURVEY: Your opinion matters! Tell us about your experiences with the district and your school by filling out the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Georgia Parent Survey required by the Georgia Department of Education. This survey provides a foundation for your school’s Climate Star rating score and is part of the CCRPI. These climate scores are an important indicator of culture and climate within each school in the district. Each school will receive a 1-5 star rating, with five stars representing an excellent school climate, and one star representing a school climate most in need of improvement. The surveys are anonymous and confidential and will remain open through Friday, December 15. To access the CCRPI survey, click here.

📌2025-2026 Instructional Calendar📌: A draft 2025-2026 instructional calendar was presented to the School Board for their initial review. District staff created the draft using the parameters approved at last month's board meeting and with parent, student, employee, and school leader feedback. The proposed calendar takes the approach of a "modified balanced calendar" and calls for 180 instructional days (89 first semester; 91 second semester) with a start date of August 4, 2025, and the last day of school occurring before Memorial Day on May 21, 2026. School breaks include a newly added week in September as well as a full week in November around the Thanksgiving holiday. Spring Break is kept as the first full week in April and two weeks are set aside in late December/early January for the winter break. The draft calendar also includes four professional development days for staff and six teacher workdays.
Board members emphasized the calendar is still in the proposal stage and that they will be soliciting feedback at their November community meetings. Join us at our District 4 Community Meeting on this Monday, November 13th at 6:00 pm at Global Impact Academy. The draft calendar can be viewed here along with a comparison to the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 calendars.

📚K-2 LITERACY SUPPORT - NOVEMBER/DECEMBER📚
As you know, parent involvement is vital to your child’s academic success, which is why I am so excited to introduce a new learning tool to help enhance what I teach in the classroom. Over the course of the school year, we will be unveiling a series of parent units for you to complete so you are better able to help support their early literacy development at home. These self-paced experiences, called Parent Units, are no more than 20 minutes from start to finish to complete. In the units, an easy-to-replicate strategy is provided for you to use at home. Each Parent Unit will launch monthly one at a time and will focus on different topics. We are kicking off the series with Unit 1 focusing on Oral Language.
I encourage you to take the time to complete these fun learning units, which can be found at the bottom of our school’s website and on the district website https://www.fultonschools.org/parentunits. Plus, parents will have the opportunity to earn a certificate for completing each unit!
Thank you for sharing your student with me. I look forward to partnering with you to give them the best education Fulton County Schools has to offer.
