Pastor Rich's Weekly Devotional
A Witness to Greatness
You will receive power when the
Holy Spirit comes on you;
and you will be my witnesses . . .
to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8
For nearly a decade in Cleveland, Ohio, there was a huge banner downtown. “We are all Witnesses,” the banner proclaimed. Underneath the words was a picture of a professional basketball player, LeBron James. The purpose of the banner was to inspire fans to purchase tickets, buy merchandise, and appreciate the basketball skills of the Cavaliers’ star player.
Before going back to heaven, Jesus called each of his followers to be a witness for him. Our goal as witnesses of Jesus’ glory is not, of course, to sell tickets or merchandise. We are to share with others the grace of God we have personally witnessed and experienced in our lives. This lies at the heart of our identity as followers of Christ.
A witness is someone who can attest to what they have seen or experienced personally. The task Jesus has entrusted to us is to carry his life-saving message wherever we go. This magnificent, global mission began with Jesus’ first-century followers, and it continues with his twenty-first-century followers today.
Empowered by his Spirit, we have a story to tell and a life-altering encounter to share. While others may quibble about a specific tenet of a denomination’s interpretation in their worship practice, no one can refute our personal experience. They cannot change what we know to be true about God’s work in our hearts and lives.
Think of how your life is better now and forever due to Jesus’ intervention. Now lovingly share that story the next time you are able.
Join us for worship service at 10:30 am.
Pastor Rich will bring us the message, Lingua Franca.

Digital Communication Specialist
At the May Session meeting, the Elders approved a position description for a part-time position, "Digital Communication Specialist". A complete rendering of the position description may be found by clicking here.
The Elders believe that this position will allow the congregation to reach many who are physically near the church but have no knowledge of our mission, ministries, or the joy we know in serving together. A winsome digital presence is crucial to reaching those who are unchurched. Please share the news of this new position with friends and family.
