Principal's Message
It's my hope our students had a fun filled Homecoming Week (check out our Facebook page for pictures and videos of all the events) and are resting up for another wonderful week. I'd like to remind you of a few important things coming in the days and weeks ahead:
First, we pull grades tomorrow morning at 8am to determine Tiger Time statuses for the next four weeks. Students with all C's or better will be awarded FLEX status and earn the privilege of choosing a FLEX location to socialize, listen to music/use their phones, work alone or in groups on class assignments, or play basketball/volleyball in the gym. Students with D's or F's, (failing or in danger of failing), will remain in 2nd period for study hall and/or be requested by teachers for academic support. Students can advocate teachers request them and we encourage this! We are thankful for the opportunity to embed this time into our school day.
This Thursday is Halloween. Costumes are permitted with the following stipulations: no masks (have to be able to identify a student), no weapons/weapon look-a-likes, properly covered, and no alcohol/drug/tobacco references. If students are unsure their costume will be permitted, please ask an administrator (principal, assistant principal, or dean).
Conferences are around the corner and we will be using Skyward for sign ups. Skyward Scheduler is now open, and will remain open until November 4 at 3:20 pm. Parents can sign up for in-person, virtual, or phone conferences. In-person conferences are the default option. The slots are 15 minutes each, and the last slot begins at 2:30. Thursday evening conferences are in person drop ins, from 4-6:30pm. We will conclude the evening with a parent presentation in the Lair, from 6:30-7pm, where families will meet administrators and counselors, and hear a bit more about our school expectations, upcoming building safety improvement projects, academic and social emotional learning goals, and be able to provide feedback about the BG experience. We hope you can make it!
Have a beautiful week, Tigers. It's my pleasure to serve you.
Heather Ichimura, Principal
Severe Popcorn Allergy
We have a student with a severe corn allergy, including the airborne corn protein released when popcorn is microwaved. We will be adding signs on all campus microwaves indicating popcorn is not to be microwaved. Thank you for your help in keeping all students safe.
End of School Day- Building Clear
We will clear the halls and lock the building at 3:15pm (when the office closes). All other students who need access must be with a coach/advisor/teacher. Staff who are running a club, after-school activity, or coaching a sport, will escort students to the exits when meetings are finished, to ensure students clear the building. Staff and students should not open doors once they are locked. This is a supervision/safety issue and undoes work our custodial team has completed as they clean.
Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences Coming Soon
Please note: students will be dismissed at 11:25 on Wednesday 11/6/24, Thursday 11/7/24, and Friday 11/8/24.Battle Ground High School will conduct parent/student conferences on Wednesday 11/6/24, from 12:30 - 2:55, and Thursday 11/7/24, from 12:30 to 2:55 and again from 4-7. Parents can reserve 15-minute appointment slots through Skyward Scheduler for the afternoon conferences. Directions can be found here: Conference Scheduler Parent View. The scheduler will open on Sunday 10/27/24 at 9 a.m. and will close at 7 a.m. on Tuesday 11/5/24. After that, or if you need help, please contact Wendy Beard at (360) 885-6631 or email Wendy at beard.wendy@battlegroundps.org. Evening conferences do not require an appointment- you can drop in anytime, we look forward to seeing you!

Are you behind In Credits?
Are you behind in credits? Not on track to graduate?
The WYCA is seeking youth for the January 13, 2025 class. Youth who are behind in credits, and not on track to graduate can earn 8-12 credits in 5 ½ months. It’s a second chance for youth who are considering dropping out because graduation looks hopeless. Attending the WYCA changes lives.
Applicants start the admission process by completing an electronic application found on our website. After the application is submitted, the youth and family are contacted by the admission team. Additional documents are noted to complete the admission papers.
After all the documents are complete, the youth is considered for an interview. Interview Days are held twice a month. Admission is first-come, first-served. Completing the application process early offers the greatest opportunity for admission. The next classes start on January 13 and July 14, 2025.

FSA ID Workshop
Hi Seniors, Parents, and Guardians,
It’s time to get started on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) processes.
One of the first steps is creating an FSA ID, which is necessary for signing and submitting the FAFSA online. Both students and one parent or guardian will need to create their own FSA IDs. This ID is crucial as it serves as your legal signature and provides access to your federal student aid information.
Join us on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 3 pm to 6 pm at Battle Ground High School College and Career Center for the FSA ID Workshop. To complete the FSA ID, you will need your social security number and personal email.
The sooner you complete this step, the sooner you can complete your FAFSA or WASFA in December.
We're here to assist you with any questions about scholarships and college applications.

District News
Get prepared for winter weather
November is officially the start of winter weather season in southwest Washington. That means there is always the chance that snow or hazardous road conditions could delay or cancel school. Here are some tips on how you can be prepared:
Download and/or print our weather guide informational flyer (русский) (Español).
Confirm whether your child’s school(s) are in the north or south part of the district.
Make sure your primary phone number and email address are correct in Skyward - Family Access.
Download the Battle Ground Public Schools app on the Apple App Store or Google Play and allow push notifications.
Follow Battle Ground Public Schools on Facebook or Instagram.
On weather-impacted days, calls may begin going out as early as 5:30 a.m. You can also call our information line at 360-885-5343 to check after 5:30 a.m.
Visit the district website for additional information on weather-related impacts, snow route information and much more.
Report, don’t repost
If you see or hear of a possible threat, please report it to law enforcement directly and/or to school staff. This is the best and most helpful action because it begins an investigation and helps to limit the potential for misinformation to spread.
Reposting or sharing a threat on social media in an attempt to warn others spreads the threat farther from its original source and may cause unnecessary alarm and fear.
You can report bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats and safety concerns using our anonymous reporting system. Emergencies should always be reported to 911.
Immunization compliance deadline
If you recently received an email or letter regarding your child’s immunization status, please contact their school as soon as possible. Starting Friday, Nov. 15, students must have all of the legally required immunizations or an approved exemption from the immunization requirements to continue attending school.
Register to vote in the Nov. 5 general election
Ballots for the Nov. 5 general and special election were mailed Oct. 17. If you are registered to vote and haven’t received your ballot by Thursday, Oct. 24, you may need to contact the Clark County Elections Department to request a new one. Online voter registration is available at VoteWa.org through Monday, Oct. 28. After that date, you can still register and vote in person at the Clark County Elections office (1408 Franklin St, Vancouver, WA 98660) until 8 p.m. on election night. For more information and to view a list of ballot dropbox locations, visit ClarkVotes.org.
