• Start now in setting your child’s sleep/waking schedule back to normal.
• Re-set recreational screen time rules, tapering down for an easier transition. Remember – if they sleep in the same room as their device/phone, there is more potential for them to stay up late and use it at night. Always try to take up phones and electronic devices at night and charge them outside of their room.
• Begin creating a schedule/routine together!
• Set up a work space for homework and/or virtual classes. Virtual students will want to have their class schedule/bell schedule easily accessible for reference – they will be asked to log in to each class on time!
• Decide together how to organize their workload. A planner or daily/weekly checklist will help organize completed work for each subject/class, and remind them what still needs to be addressed or completed.
• Talk about how they are feeling about going back to school, and normalize discussing their concerns.
