LMS Tiger Talk
February 2, 2024
Principal's Message
Tiger Families,
February is here and we've been greeted with some sunshine! I've seen some funny memes about how us Midwesterner's enjoy some good sunshine with our 40 degree weather that have made me laugh. I might have also seen a person with their convertible top down on the highway yesterday. Needless to say, I think we are all excited for a few days of sunshine!
We included information starting last week about our upcoming Career Exploration Day happening for all of our students on Tues, 3/5. We are looking for volunteers to come speak with our 7th grade students that day for career presentations happening here at school that day. Please check out the details below, and we'd love to have you sign up to be a part of the morning, sharing what you do at work with our students! All careers and jobs welcome. Any questions, please reach out and let me know (knappda@lovelandschools.org).
Our administrative team will be visiting with all of our teams of students starting on Monday for another round of Tiger Up! meetings. This meeting will focus on ways to have a great second semester here at LMS, supporting our core values of Care, Respect and Responsibility. I'll share out the information that we review with students next week so that you have the opportunity to discuss these topics with your child as we proceed through the rest of the school year.
Enjoy your weekend and the sunshine!
Take care and Go Tigers!

LMS Career Exploration Day - Volunteers Needed
In support of our student's exploration of career fields that may be of interest to them for their future, and as a piece of our comprehensive career and college readiness plans, Loveland Middle School is excited to announce that we will be hosting our Career Exploration Day this year for all 7th-grade and 8th students taking place on Tues, March 5th. This event will feature career presentations here at LMS for our 7th grade students while our 8th grade students take a field trip to the Junior Achievement Inspire to Hire event at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. The goal of these events is for our students to learn about a diverse mix of job and and career options that are available upon graduation from high school and/or college and for our students to connect with local businesses, professionals and potential future employers.
For the 7th grade portion of the day, we are looking for parents, family members, or other local community members who are interested in presenting to our students about their current job or career. For the event, students will be able to choose from a list of presentations to attend. Students will choose three presentations to attend which will last for 25 minutes each. If you are interested in presenting about your job, we would love to have you come to be a part of our Career Exploration Day here at LMS on Tues, March 5th from 7:30-9:30! Please fill out this form to indicate your interest. We appreciate your willingness to come to spend time with our amazing students! The sign up form closes on Friday, 2/9.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Drews Mitchell, Career and College Counselor (mitchedr@lovelandschools.org), or David Knapp, LMS Principal (knappda@lovelandschools.org).

Tiger Up! Staff Member of the Week - Anita Winning
Congratulations to this week's Tiger Up! Staff Member of the Week, Anita Winning! Anita is an Intervention Specialist at both LMS and LIS and was nominated by LMS Intervention Specialist, Ms. Bryn Cole. Anita goes above and beyond to help support our students (and staff) here at school. Mrs. Winning is a friend to every student and staff member here on our campus and she goes way beyond the call of duty on the regular to help support our students. She also lends her experience, expertise and insight to help our staff whenever she can. Mrs. Winning is a champion for all of our students and is about as student focused as they come. Reminders
School Drop-Off Procedures
We have seen an uptick in our morning drop-off traffic with the colder temperatures and we wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of the drop-off procedures. For the safety of our students and purposes of efficiency (and making this process as quick as possible for all of you!), It is very important that ALL people follow these instructions during this busy part of the day:
- For those families dropping off and/or picking up your child from the LIS/LMS campus, you will pull in the main entrance and you will have to follow the line in the picture below before dropping off or picking up your student(s). You MUST follow this line all the way around the back of the building - DO NOT turn left immediately to the front drive of the building. This causes back-ups and unsafe conditions for students walking or riding their bike to school.
- The area where students are dropped and picked up remains in the front of the building. You will pull all the way up in front of the main LIS/LMS entrance before your student(s) leaves or enters the car. PULL ALL THE WAY UP to the end of the drop-off area (designated by signs) before your child exits the vehicle. This allows more students to be exiting their vehicle at the same time and improves efficiency. Please see the pictures below for the traffic pattern and drop-off area locations.
- Car riders, please also be aware that we will have students walking and riding their bikes to school each day. Please be careful and keep an eye out for students crossing the street and driveway around our campus. You can see the marked crosswalk locations in the picture below where students and pedestrians should be crossing.
If everyone follows the process accordingly, we know it to be the most efficient and safe process possible given the volume and our campus layout. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in following the established process for our car riders. If you have any questions, please let us know.
