Fall Conferences are Near

What's New with Fall Conferences
If you recall, back in August we shared some changes coming this year around conferences and progress reporting. Here's a little review around what's new this year, as well as some specifics around how to sign up for conference times, if you haven't done so already.
Shared in August newsletter:
MAPS elementary schools will be changing the timing of Progress Reports to increase the frequency of scheduled communication with families about student achievement. Starting in the fall of 2024, Progress Reports will occur at different times than Parent Teacher Conferences. Parent Teacher Conferences will continue to be held in November and March, and Progress Reports will be completed in January and June. This change will provide an opportunity for families to receive communication four times during the school year, and families will have an understanding of their child’s progress at the end of the school year.
Families will be able to see their child’s progress report through the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. If families are unable to access their child’s progress report online, they can request a paper copy by contacting the office at their child’s school.

National Blue Ribbon Ceremony
Thursday, Nov. 7 and Friday, Nov. 8, are very exciting dates on the Franklin calendar. Teachers Joanna Bequette and Megan Sandhurst, as well as former principal Travis Olson, and current principal Johnson will be in Washington, D.C. to officially receive the 2024 National Blue Ribbon School Award. These two days are filled with professional learning opportunities along with the joy of accepting this prestigious national recognition.
Check out the link below to learn more about this award and the ceremony.
Walk-a-thon Success
We wanted to take one last opportunity to thank everyone who helped plan, organize, and execute another very effective walk-a-thon fundraising campaign and event. Our Franklin families were incredibly generous, once again, and we had beautiful weather on the day of the event. Mr. Shevy, our amazing music teacher and talented photographer, put together a photo montage we will be sharing with our Franklin families. The finishing touches are being added right now. Watch for a link to it coming out before the end of the week.
Attendance Matters
MAPS continues to work with families to prioritize regular attendance for all our students. We know there are many things that happen in life, and sometimes life's circumstances make it challenging to get kids to school. However, we also know how incredibly important it is for students to attend school whenever they are healthy enough to do so. While some families experience frustration when we ask questions around student absences, or when we share communication around unexcused or total absences, we will continue to do all we can to encourage and support families when it comes to attendance. The research is clear around the very strong connection between regular school attendance, academic achievement, and future success in life, and we want the very best for all our Franklin Falcons.
