A Special Thank You.....
On Friday, October 25th, many volunteers, in partnership with Parent Center and PTA, we held our annual Día de los Muertos event. Thank you to all who contributed time, donations, expertise, and love for our community to be able to share this tradition. The altars in the MPR were beautiful, and we were moved by the heartfelt tributes honoring loved ones who are no longer with us. This event offered a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, celebrating both the uniqueness and the unity that Día de los Muertos embodies. Your support and participation help us to keep these traditions alive, enriching our students' understanding of cultural heritage and the importance of family. The Aztec Dancers and our Ballet Folklorico dancers also helped in making this event a memorable and meaningful experience for all.
HALLOWEEN PARADE: On Thursday, October 31st, we will be having our Halloween Parade. Students will need to go to class as usual in the morning. At 8:45am classes will walk over to the blacktop area, where parents will be allowed to watch the Halloween Parade. We will open the gates to the blacktop at 8:45 and parents can line up around the track in the designated area between the cones. The students will walk around with their classroom teacher at least twice, three times if they have the stamina! Please know that only elementary students walk around, but the middle school students cheer them on in the designated student area, and are often in costumes themselves. At the conclusion of the parade, all parents must exit through the blacktop gates. If you have made arrangements with a classroom teacher to help that day, then you will need to check into the office to receive your badge.
Costumes: Our District’s Halloween costume protocols policy states that costumes cannot include the following:
No weapons or replica weapons
No blood or gore
No skates or roller blades
Costume masks may be worn during parades only
- In addition:
In keeping with our District’s student dress code policy (AR 5332), no costumes shall include: “clothing, accessories, and jewelry shall be free of writing, pictures, symbols or any other insignia which are crude, vulgar, profane, obscene, libelous, slanderous, or sexually suggestive. Clothing, accessories, or jewelry that degrade any cultural, religious, or ethnic values, that advocate racial, ethnic, or religious prejudice or discrimination, or that promote sex, the use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol, or any unlawful acts are prohibited.”
