It's Time to Schedule for Next Year

For students in grades 8-11, it's time to schedule. And everything needed for scheduling can be found on the counseling website. Click the button below. Also, read the rest of this newsletter for additional considerations. Students will be meeting one on one with counselors throughout the month of March to select classes.

Earn Credits to Graduate

As you help your child select classes, remember that first, students need to meet all the requirements to graduate. So they must schedule classes that meet those requirements.

Follow Your Interests

Next, consider areas of interest. Students do best when they are engaged. Some of our most engaging classes are in the arts and CTE (Career Technical Education). These are areas that provide unique experiences and the chance to gain a variety of skills which will be helpful regardless of the college/career pathway that the student is on.

Challenge Yourself

We offer 17 AP (Advanced Placement) classes, as well as a number of honors and accelerated classes. These classes require more effort than regular classes, and it may be more difficult to earn an A in them, but students will learn and grow a great deal. Additionally, for AP classes, students will get a 0.5 bump in their GPA to account for the increased rigor. Also, it is possible to earn college credit through AP classes, but it is not guaranteed. These are all things to consider when deciding about whether or not to take AP classes and also how many to take. We encourage a balanced approach.
