As we enter another application season, I find myself reflecting on the incredible community we’ve built here at SOAR. It fills me with immense joy to witness our program's growth and the meaningful impact it has on the lives of our students. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us fulfill our mission of empowering students to become lifelong learners, innovators, and leaders.

Here are some important dates to note:

• We hope you’ll join us on Friday, February 7th, at 5:00 pm for our Back to School Creative Minds’ Night. This is an opportunity to showcase our STARS!

• Friday, February 7th is a minimum day. Students will be released at 1:40pm.

• February 3rd begins National School Counseling Week! Please take a moment to recognize and thank our counselors - Rika Graves and Keisha Como

• There is a four day holiday weekend in February. Both SOAR and AVC will not have classes February 14 - 17th. All classes will resume February 18, 2025.

• Friday, February 21, 2025, is a “Monday” Friday. Classes will start at 8:30, and students will be released at 3:50.

• Please note, this four day holiday differs from the AVHSD’s calendar.

SOAR High School has been recognized on the State of California Leaderboard for our FAFSA/CADAA completion statistics. This achievement reflects our collective commitment to ensuring that every student has access to valuable financial aid opportunities for their higher education journey.

As of today, 72% of our students who have submitted their FAFSA or CADAA applications have already received preliminary Cal Grant Awards. This is a testament to the hard work of our students, families, and counseling team. Congratulations to all who have taken this important step!

To support all of our students in accessing these opportunities, our counseling team will begin reaching out next week to parents of students who have not yet completed their FAFSA or CADAA applications. We are here to provide guidance and answer any questions you may have.

If you need assistance completing these applications or have concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our counseling office. Together, we can ensure that all SOAR students are positioned for success and prepared to take advantage of the resources available to them.
