February 2025
Dear Avon Lake Families,
Welcome to February! We have stepped into the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we've made and look ahead to the opportunities this new term brings. While the recent cold weather may have kept us bundled up, the warmth of our shared commitment to education and growth continues to shine brightly.
The start of a new semester is an excellent time to set fresh goals. Students, I encourage you to approach your studies with enthusiasm and determination. Remember, each day is a new chance to learn, grow, and excel. Parents and guardians, your support and encouragement make all the difference.
It’s important to maintain open lines of communication. Stay in communication with your student’s teachers and take advantage of opportunities to discuss their progress. Whether through emails, the March parent-teacher conferences, or school events, staying connected helps us better support each student on their journey.
Let’s also take a moment to celebrate the resilience and positivity within our school community. Despite the season's challenges, I see inspiring examples of hard work, collaboration, and kindness every day. Together, we can continue to create an environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
Thank you for your partnership in making our school a place of excellence and growth.
Thank you for your support.
Take care,
Michael J. May, Principal

Identimetrics
Beginning January 21, 2025, Avon Lake High School is implementing a biometric ID management system in an effort to provide accurate student identification and improve efficiency within attendance reporting for our students. There are other high schools in the area which utilize this system. We will be implementing this new ID management system to improve accountability and accuracy of student attendance records. This technology will help us reduce the costs and time required in managing this process while providing an easy, fast and accurate way to identify students. Students will be informed during their lunch periods over the next several school days.
Please read the informational letter below by clicking on "Identimetrics Parent Communication Letter."
