PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, December 6th
I hope everyone had a wonderful week off for Fall break last week! I hope you all enjoyed the time with your families. Believe it or not, we only have TWO weeks left until winter break! I have no doubt the time will fly by. I am sure this is an incredibly busy time for everyone so I will keep the next few Patton Posts on the light side!
3rd and 5th Grade families should have received CogAT results on Wednesday, December 4th. If you did not receive results or have any questions about your child's results, please reach out to our Director of Student Learning, Andrea Luessow (aluessow@sd25.org).
I hope to see many of you at the Patton Spreads Joy event this evening - this is always a lovely event that really gets everyone in the holiday mood! We are so grateful to our PTA for organizing this for our community.
Have a great weekend!
Ellie Chin
TRIMESTER ONE - ASSEMBLY (NEW POST!)
To celebrate the end of Trimester 1, we gathered the whole school together for a celebratory assembly on Tuesday morning! We celebrated all the things we achieved so far this year and were treated to a musical performance by our 5th Graders! They performed two songs from Aladdin and everyone is excited for their show in May!
It's always such a joy to be able to celebrate all our achievements together as a school!
MATH CONTEST WINNERS (NEW POST!)
ABC/25 FOUNDATION - JOIN TODAY! (NEW POST!)
Help Patton earn a $2,500.00 grant by becoming an ABC/25 Foundation member today!
WE ONLY NEED 3 MORE MEMBERS TO REACH OUR GOAL!!!
Join for $40. Each membership is applied towards all AHSD25 schools your children attend. If you already joined for Thomas Middle School this year, please make sure you were also counted for Patton. Membership must be renewed annually.
Your membership and any additional donations will help fund grants applied for by teachers and administrative staff. Plus, you'll get free or discounted entry into our events with a membership!
And no worries, you won't need to attend any meetings if you don't want to! Although the more the merrier if you are so inclined. We're always looking for new ideas!

TISSUE BOX CRAFT (NEW POST!)
After Thanksgiving Break, we had a few AMAZING hand crafted tissue boxes handed in and I just had to share them with you! These tissue boxes really help brighten up our day and are such a joy to have in the school.
If anyone is in need of a fun craft idea to do over winter break, these are a great way to keep kiddos occupied and we will happily display and use them throughout the school.
Decorate the tissue box like any book character you love and make sure it is free standing and that the tissues are accessible.
LMC HAPPENINGS - TRIMESTER ONE (2nd POST!)
The Library Media program exposes students to quality literature, promotes the joy and adventure of reading for pleasure and for information and through an integrated and collaborative program, provides a framework for learning in the 21st Century, ensuring that students and staff are effective and ethical users and producers of ideas and information.

COLD WEATHER RECESS (2nd POST!)
Please be mindful that students will go out for recess every day as long as the wind chill is above zero and it is not raining. Please ensure your Panthers come to school dressed for the weather. If there is snow on the ground, students will not be able to play on the field or the playground unless they are wearing snow pants and boots. They will need to remain on the blacktop only if they do not have appropriate snow gear. Gloves and hats are important when the weather is cold even if students choose not to bring boots and snow pants.
Students are encouraged to bring in a bag of snow gear each day "just in case" - this also helps minimize any classroom disruptions with items being dropped off after school has started. Please ensure all items are labeled clearly so we can reunite any lost gloves/hats/boots with their owners quickly and easily. Our lost and found is already overflowing again!
It is important to have students bring their snow gear bags home with them over the weekend so clothes can be washed and dried and "refreshed" for the following week! Snow gear does not fully dry when left in the bag.
Thank you so much for working with us on this front, it is hugely appreciated!
REGULATE TO ELEVATE - PHOTO REQUEST (Ongoing POST!)
Keeping with our school theme this year - Regulate to Elevate - we are looking to fill our bulletin board in the Commons with photos of staff and students being their best, regulated selves. If you haven't already, please send a photo in with your child. They can be turned in to the Office or to classroom teachers. (Photos will not be able to be returned.)
HOMEWORK CLUB: NOVEMBER & DECEMBER - 4th and 5th Graders (Ongoing POST!)
4th and 5th Grade homework club provides a quiet space for students to complete assignments or read in a relaxing setting. Mr. Morkert will be available to answer questions and provide help when needed.
It is important that you note whether you will pick up your child or if they will walk home. Mr. Morkert will bring the kids to the front doors at 4:25pm. Please be there waiting at this time.
Please reach out if you have questions. (tmorkert@sd25.org)
This club will run on Thursdays, 3:35-4:40pm.
If your child is interested, please SIGN UP HERE and be sure to enter your child's name when signing up!
