Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update
Mrs. Bearden's Message: October 28, 2024
Dear Eagle Canyon Families,
Thank you to everyone who made it to the Fall Family Festival! Who would've thought that the Dodgers would have been in the first game of the World Series on the same night? ๐ปโพ
We would like to give a special shout-out to Mr. Andy Thompson, one of our amazing parents, and J.F. Shea's construction company. Mr. Thompson, a J.F. Shea employee, spends several days transporting the lighting for our Fall Family Festival. He volunteers his time to set up all the lighting. At the end of the night, he helps get the area clean. Once the vendors leave, he takes the lights down and begins the process of taking the lights back to the construction yard, which takes a few days. With the days getting shorter, lights are necessary for a job site. We appreciate Mr. Thompson's commitment and J.F. Shea's support for the last four years.
STUDENT COUNCIL COOKIES
If you ordered the Student Council Cookie Co cookies and you haven't picked them up, please come by on Monday to get them.
RED RIBBON WEEK
This week, we celebrate Red Ribbon Week. One way students can show their commitment to being drug-free is to participate in spirit days. Check out the image below to see each day's theme.
LITERATURE DAY PARADE
On Thursday, we will host our annual Literature Day Parade. As a reminder, costumes must reflect a book character, and the students must have the book to participate. Additionally, students must not cover their faces with masks or helmets. Finally, toy weapons are not permitted.
We love welcoming our families to these events. If you can attend, please arrive early so you can get checked in. Please plan to park on Eagle Canyon Drive to ensure our staff members have enough parking.
NO SCHOOL
On Friday, Chino Valley Unified Schools are closed. Enjoy your extended weekend.
VETERANS' DAY RALLY
The Veterans' Day Rally is right around the corner. If you or a family member have served in the armed forces, we would love to honor your service. Please plan to join us on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 8:15 a.m.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Bearden

Battle of the Schools
You may remember the Dog Haus Battle of the Schools if you were an Eagle Canyon family during the 2019-20 school year. Eagle Canyon won and had a hot dog named after our school for a month.
Yogurtland is currently hosting a Battle of the Schools. If you are able, we would love your support in showing the community how Eagle Canyon rallies together and loves to compete. I see Yogurtland in my future! ๐
Last week, a Yogurtland employee informed us that we are currently in second place. When you visit Yogurtland, be sure to ask for a sticker so you can support Eagle Canyon in the Battle of the Schools.
Attendance Information
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow
Eagle Canyon's student attendance will be a focus this year. Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults.
Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on necessary instruction, and it takes a while for them to get caught up. Parents of students at risk of Chronic Absenteeism will have to meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mrs. Jenkins to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.
We met the 96.5% goal three out of the five days last week, averaging 96.64%, another decrease from last week. In the Ayala Feeder, we continue to rank in 4th place out of five elementary schools. Let's continue to make attendance a priority. If your child was absent, take advantage of the Saturday School on December 14 to remove one absence.
๐ฉDonut be Late!๐ฉ
Each week, the stars of the school with impeccable attendance and zero fashionably late entrances will bask in the glory of donut holes courtesy of the Eagle Canyon PTA! Brace yourselves, as two mystery days each week will be the golden ticket for this sugary delight.
Congratulations to the following classrooms for earning donut holes last week:
Le X2
Soto X2
Alsky
Asam
Edwards
Martinez
McDermott
Mejia
Merrick (Juarez)
Rodriguez
Additional Information
TRAFFIC REMINDERS - ๐ UPDATED๐
When I cannot be out on Eagle Canyon Drive due to being off campus or in a meeting, please follow these common courtesies:
1. Avoid blocking the Eagle Canyon driveway when Ms. Diana crosses students in the crosswalk. This is a great opportunity to allow cars to exit the parking lot.
2. Avoid blocking the intersection of Winchester Way and Eagle Canyon Drive. Some people need to make a left from Eagle Canyon Drive to get home.
3. Please stay in your car in the loading and unloading zones (cabanas and the yellow zone on Eagle Canyon Drive). The faster you drop off or pick up your child, the faster our traffic moves.
Thank you ๐
BIRTHDAY GREETINGS ON THE MARQUEE
Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If interested, please stop by the office, complete the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan in advance. We need two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.
The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.
OCTOBER'S CHARACTER TRAIT - GRIT
Each month, Eagle Canyon will focus on teaching students about a character trait. We will share it during our Monday Morning Rallies, and teachers will reinforce it by recognizing one student each month for a monthly award.
WEEKLY SPIRIT DAYS - RED RIBBON WEEK
Monday: Red Out - Wear red head to toe!
Tuesday: Team up to fight drugs! - Wear a sports team shirt or jersey.
Wednesdays: Friends Don't Let Friends Do Drugs! - Twin Day!
Thursday: Too Smart To Do Drugs! - Dress as a book character.
SUPPORT EAGLE CANYON
A popular fundraising opportunity all families can support is Box Tops. Download the Box Top app on your phone. You must scan your receipts on the Box Top app within 14 days of the purchase. The app will let you know if any purchased items qualify to earn 10 cents per product. If there are not any items, you will still have an opportunity to enter the sweepstakes to win 500 bonus Box Tops. Every receipt has the potential to earn our school money.
As of today, our school has earned $31.60 this year. Our goal is to earn $500. Please return the coupons to the school office if you also get them. Be sure to select the grade level that you want to support. Thank you in advance for your support!
