SEPTEMBER HUSKIE HOWL
NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We’ve had a fantastic start to the school year, and I’m proud to share that our students have been displaying so much kindness, respect, and politeness. It’s been especially exciting to see our 5th graders already stepping into leadership roles in such positive ways. I’ve watched them guide and support our younger students as they navigate their first days, showing incredible patience and care.
The photo below captures a heartwarming moment between two kindergarteners. When one became worried and confused about finding their classroom, another student overheard and immediately jumped in to help. Their conversation was full of encouragement and kindness, and I felt honored to witness such compassion.
This doesn’t surprise me, though. In Emmett, we have a legacy of supporting one another when it's needed. We raise children who know how to work hard, play hard, and, most importantly, be there for each other. Thank you, families, for continuing this tradition with the next generation. Cheers to a great year of growing and learning together.

NOTE FROM THE COUNSELOR
Welcome Back!
The beginning of a new school year can be exciting and scary at the same time. Exciting to be back in school with our friends, but scary because we have a new teacher. Parents can be a great help to their children navigate the emotions that come with starting a new school year. Here are some things you can do to help:
Make sure your at home routine is predictable with regular mealtimes and bedtimes.
Share what you do when you feel stressed. Children mimic what they see, if you stay calm they will too.
Find out what your child is looking forward to and what they are worried about. Talk with them about these things and how they can address situations that arise.
Take care of yourself! A stressed parent can lead to a stressed child. Take a minute to enjoy the sunshine, or take a walk as a family.
I am looking forward to having a great school year with all the amazing students here.
If you need anything, please reach out.
NOTE FROM NURSE
Friendly Reminder from the new nurse in town:
Please reach out to update your child's medical files if there has been a change since your child was registered. These changes may include things like a new diagnosis or allergy, a new medication your child is taking, the use of glasses or the medical need for school accommodations. We know everyone needs to be healthy to learn. We want to support all our kids.
Shadow Butte Elementary Nurse Office has a need for gently used clothing and shoes at this time, (especially girls shorts/leggings/pants and shoes.) We would love to take them off your hands to share them as needed with our young friends who might just become a little too friendly with a muddy puddle, spill ranch all over, or simply need the next size in shoes. Whatever the reason, please consider bringing your clean gently used items to us. What your child grew out of might be exactly what we need!
NOTE FROM THE LIBRARY
Book Fair October 7 - 11
Book Fair is coming and will be open during Parent Teacher Conferences on Oct 10 & 11
Volunteers Needed: The Librarian could use some help on Oct 7th, 8th and 9th to help Students fill out their Wish Lists. Contact Morgan Kimball mokimball@isd221.net or call 208-365-0877 if you are interested. Thank you!
STUDENT HANDBOOK
Please take a minute to locate our Student Handbook https://sbe.emmettschools.org/information/policies-procedures
- Use the QR code or the link below to verify you have seen and read the Student Handbook
ATTENDANCE
If your child is absent for any reason, call the office at 208-365-0877 or email sbeattendance@isd221.net to excuse your child. Thank you for letting your child's teacher know but they do not always have the time to get the message to the front office.
If doctor appointments are necessary during the school day, please bring a doctor's note for our records.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES - called in by 2:30
- If there are changes on how your children will be going home at the end of the day, those changes must be called into the office at 208-365-0877 by 2:30pm. We cannot guarantee the change can happen after this time.
- If you need to check out your child during recess, we kindly request that you wait until the recess concludes or arrive before recess. This supports the safety of all students, as our duty staff can then focus on their designated supervision areas without any distractions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Pick up Procedures
When pulling up in the pick up line DO NOT exit the car, if your student needs extra help, park in the lot closest to the school. This is safest method for all students and keeps the traffic flowing and from gathering on Idaho Blvd.
We ask that parents not park in the staff parking that is located on the corner of Idaho and Mesa so students and parents are not crossing traffic and in between moving cars.
Thanks again for helping us keep our students safe!
SCHOOL LUNCH
If you haven’t yet filled out a Free/Reduced application, they are available on our website, online on Infinite Campus, or at the school office.
