CBA Elementary Lion Link 🐾
Your link between home and school | November 8
Hello CBA Elementary Families,
This week was jam-packed with real-world, hands-on experiences for our little lions! From voting in the voting booth on Election Day to exploring STEAM concepts on STEAM Day, we dove into a variety of exciting activities that helped our students grow and learn in new ways.
Election Day
Our 5th grade students led an incredible Election Day event! They kicked things off with campaign speeches, vying for votes with promises of sweet treats, extra recess, or a dress-down day. On election day, our 2nd grade students participated by sporting their “Election Day” pins and casting their votes. It was a close race, but in the end, the sweet treat took home the win!
Outdoor Classroom Day
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement that encourages children to spend more time learning outside. On two days each year, teachers take students outdoors to play and learn. All year round, the movement advocates for more outdoor learning every day. It was a beautiful and productive day as students explored nature with scavenger hunts, created nature sculptures, and engaged in other exciting activities in the fresh air!
STEAM Day
STEAM Day (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) is celebrated annually on November 8 to inspire kids to explore and pursue their interests in these subjects. Our students had a blast experimenting with hands-on activities, solving engineering challenges, creating art projects, and more, all while diving deeper into these important areas of learning.
Field Trips
1st grade ventured out to Brandywine Red Clay Alliance for a lesson on animals and adaptations! Students searched for signs of wildlife while learning about what animals need in their habitat to survive. They discovered a variety of animal homes while learning how specific habitats provide food, water, shelter and space. They even showed off a song they learned at PRIDE Time!
We had a fantastic week learning and growing with our students!
Thank you,
The CBA Team
Lion of the Week!
This student consistently demonstrates hard work, putting forth effort in all academic areas. Their dedication is evident not just within the classroom, where they actively participate and engage in lessons, but also beyond school hours.
In addition to their academic achievements, this student is a wonderful friend to their peers. They make a conscious effort to include everyone in group activities. Their kindness shines through in everyday interactions, as they consistently show empathy towards others. Whether it’s offering a helping hand to a classmate in need or simply providing words of encouragement, this student has the qualities of a compassionate and supportive individual. They also always enter and leave the classroom with a smile that brightens up the room. They are creative and talented.
This student is respectful to their teachers and embodies what it means to Be a Lion. That is why Sarah J. has been nominated for Lion of the Week.

November Health Screenings
Dear CBA Families,
The PA Departments of Health and Education mandate annual student health screenings are provided as a part of the School Health Services Program. A WCASD nurse will be visiting our school on November 13th and 14th to perform these screenings for our students. A report with your child’s results will be provided for your review. We encourage you to keep this record and/or share with your physician. Referral letters will be sent when vision or hearing results do not meet the standard range of normal.
The standard screenings to be performed are listed below:
* Vision – Far & Near Acuity – All grades yearly, plus Lens & Color – 1st grade, Stereo/Depth Perception – 2nd grade.
NOTE: The vision screenings are not a substitute for a comprehensive eye examination by an eye care specialist. The American Optometric Association recommends eye examinations every two years during the school age years.
* Hearing - Grades K-3
* Height/Weight - All grades
* BMI - All grades
Please feel free to contact the WCASD school nurse at 484-266-1306 with any questions.
Thank you

- Place it in your yard where your neighbors can see.
