Greetings
Dear Bruin Families and Students:
March is Women’s History Month
As we enter the month of March, we have the wonderful opportunity to celebrate Women’s History Month. This month serves as a time to honor the contributions, achievements, and legacies of women throughout history and in our present day. Women's History Month originated from Women's History Week, which was first established in 1981 by Congress. In 1987, this week was expanded to a month-long celebration, officially recognizing the vital role women have played in shaping our society, culture, and world. Here in the Brighton Central School District, we are committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity and appreciation for all individuals. It is important for our students to learn about and recognize the accomplishments of women from diverse backgrounds and fields.
To celebrate Women’s History Month, check out some local events and learning opportunities:
1. The National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House in Rochester, New York, features the National Historic Landmark home of the legendary civil rights leader, and the site of her famous arrest for voting in 1872. This home was the headquarters of the National American Woman Suffrage Association when she was its president. This is also where she died in 1906 at age 86, following her “Failure is Impossible” speech in Baltimore. The Anthony Museum offers guided tours of the Susan B. Anthony House six days a week, from 11 am- 5pm.
2. Rochester Museum and Science Center International Women’s Day Celebration. Celebrate Women’s HERStory! Learn about Rochester’s Changemakers, explore hands-on activities, and meet inspiring female scientists.
3. PBS kids video on Women’s History that celebrates women all around the world.
4. Online exhibit at the Smithsonian called Becoming Visible: Bringing American Women’s History into Focus. Explore five women's stories and learn what you can do to continue to celebrate women.
We continue to follow our NEW Positive Attendance Campaign at BHS! You can read Dr. Hall's letter HERE to learn more.
Have a great weekend!
T. Hall

This school year, youth vaping is as big an issue as ever, especially given growing mental health challenges among youth. Behind the bright colors and sweet flavors of e-cigarettes are harmful chemicals and nicotine addiction. Join us to learn the essentials for helping kids avoid or quit vaping.
At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
· Understand and recognize tobacco industry tactics targeting youth
· Explain the dangers of nicotine e-cigarettes/vapes, non-nicotine vapes, and other new tobacco products
· Know the steps to protect youth and how to advise others to get involved
· Take action in their own communities
If you can't make it, don't worry! We will be offering this presentation throughout the rest of the year on May 12, September 10, and November 19.
This event is FREE and open to all, including parents, people who work with youth, and others. The recording will be available to all registrants after the webinar.
