Cedar Grove Friday Flash
September 13, 2024
Dear Cedar Grove Families:
Thank you to all of our families who attended Back to School Night last night. We hope you enjoyed connecting with other families and hearing about your child's learning experiences. Please note that you will find additional information specific to your child's grade level in the newsletter section below.
We are once again participating in Project Happy Feet, which is a student-run organization with a goal of making sports equipment accessible for students in lower income areas. Between now and October 16, we will be collecting new and lightly-used shoes and sports equipment, which will be donated to Title I schools. A box will be inside the main entrance foyer if you would like to make a donation. For more information, please click on this flyer.
Our families are invited to attend Family Movie Night at Damascus High School. The DHS Drama Club is hosting a screening of Encanto in the DHS Auditorium on Friday, September 20th. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the film will start at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free; however, donations to benefit the performing arts at Damascus HS will gladly be accepted. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please email Mr. Kachadorian at Steven_R_Kachadorian@mcpsmd.org with any questions.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Wynne and Mrs. German

From Mrs. Hirschhorn, Media Specialist
As we end our third week of school, our students are getting back into great media habits. They are for the most part remembering their books before they're overdue and using strategies to find the books they want to read (please check out this month's media monthly to find out when your student's books are due ). We had our first general daily news meeting and our first practice with the Orange Crew. We will record the daily news on Monday and I'm sure everyone will do a great job. The Book Fair is in the media center, so although I will continue to teach media lessons in the classrooms, students will not be able to check out books this coming week. I hope to see you and your students at the Book Fair and at Movie Night!
