The leaves are turning and the weather is slightly cooler; fall is here to stay! This has been a wonderful week of teaching and learning as we begin National Family Engagement Month. In honor of this month, we have several exciting opportunities to open Clairemont’s doors in the spirit of school-family engagement. Next Wednesday is our annual Thanksgiving luncheon. Please see the flyer below with your child(ren)’s lunch time. There is also a copy of the luncheon schedule in this week’s red communication folder. We hope you can join us next Wednesday. If you would like to enjoy lunch with us, tickets are $5. You have until Friday, November 8th to either purchase your luncheon meal online through the Parent Portal or send in luncheon money with your child(ren).

For the first time ever, Clairemont is hosting a Fall Family Movie Night. The votes are in…the feature film will be Tangled! We will have snacks, singing, and lots of fun. You can purchase your tickets throughout next week. Tickets are $5 each. For families of 4 or more, the price is a flat rate of $20. Tickets include a snack pack. Please join us!

Next week Clairemont will be highlighted at the beginning of the monthly Board meeting. The Board meeting is on Tuesday, November 12th. I’m honored to share just a few student and staff achievements of this school year. If you can come out to support, please plan to arrive by 4:45. I hope to see you there!

We've had a lot to celebrate recently! Our PTA co-presidents showed our gratitude for Ms. Lockwood during Community Circle last week to mark the end of Principal Appreciation Month. Then Ms. Lockwood recognized Ms. Miller and congratulated her on winning Professional Employee of the Year! Finally, the students in the musical have been working hard at rehearsals under the direction of Ms. Lawrence and Ms. Nelson. It's going to be a fantastic show you don't want to miss!

Keep an eye out for our new friend next time you're at school! This majestic owl is keeping watch over the great teaching and learning we do!

One more chance for Camera Club this semester! Camera Club will meet on Thursday December 5th from 7:30-8 a.m.

Come and take pictures with us! Cameras will be shared for those students who do not have a camera. We will focus on a different topic each week (i.e. take pictures of different things each session).

Grab a friend and join us! We need all sorts of volunteers (parents, family, neighbors, teachers and students) to make this event happen. Clairemont students can take photos, be greeters, be concierge, help decorate, or sell beverages in the café!

Parents are a critical set of volunteers, and you can pick what you want to do – Sell raffle tickets? Help decorate the café? Be a troubleshooter or concierge for artists? We have a spot just for you!

We’re also looking for Clairemont Crew to help unload our classrooms, setup, load in artists and transform our little school into an amazing artists marketplace, then help with breakdown, load-out and put the classrooms back together.

Just a few hours of effort on Friday afternoon or Saturday evening ensures a WONDERFUL event. Sign up to volunteer here!

Grab your friends and neighbors and help us celebrate the return of Decatur Education Foundation's highly-anticipated fall FUNdraiser - Supper & Sips! Join us on Thursday, Nov. 14th, from 6-10 pm at The Chapel on Sycamore for an evening of food, fun, and fellowship - all for a good cause. The Supper provides crucial support for DEF, allowing us to continue our work addressing unmet needs, providing enriching opportunities, and supporting our educators.
