Week of: November 11th
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Springtown High School Families,
As we transition into cooler weather and fall is finally here, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of a few important details. With the change in seasons, please remind your student about our school dress code. Specifically, pajamas are not permitted, and hoods cannot be worn inside the building. We greatly appreciate your support in helping us maintain these standards for the benefit of all students.
On a different note, our volleyball season has come to an end. While we were defeated by Stephenville Thursday night, it was a fantastic season. Our volleyball team played their best, and they represented Springtown High School with great pride and determination. We are proud of their hard work and sportsmanship this year.
This week, our football team has a bye, but we are all eagerly looking forward to the upcoming playoff game! The excitement for the postseason is building, and we can’t wait to cheer on our team.
Finally, on Monday, we will be honoring Veterans Day with a formal flag ceremony at 7:00 AM at the flagpole, sponsored by a local Boy Scout troop and the Young Marines. Our choir will be in attendance to sing the national anthem to honor the men and women who have served our country.
Thank you for your continued support of Springtown High School. I look forward to all the great things still ahead this semester!
Sincerely,
Mr. H
Principal

Helping Your Teen Develop an Attitude of Gratitude: Part 3
We’re continuing our month-long series of strategies to help your teen adopt an “attitude of gratitude”. Give the following a try and see how it goes!
Encourage your teen to keep a journal. Journaling is an excellent way to learn about your feelings and cultivate mindfulness. Journaling can be difficult to start, especially if you don’t know how to describe the feelings you’re having. Pro tip: look for guided journals for teens with prompts to help them get started!
Serve others as a family. Serving others is one of the best ways to develop gratitude. Volunteering can help you feel more grateful for what you have and helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It’s also a great way to get involved in your community!
Perform random acts of kindness. Acts of kindness can release neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin, which can improve mood, create feelings of satisfaction, and reduce blood pressure. Get your teens involved in doing something nice for a family member, friend, or even a stranger. Try encouraging one small act of kindness each day, like holding the door for someone!
If you have any questions regarding your schedule, we ask you to reach out to your counselor.
