Fill the Flag Fundraiser
THE FILL THE FLAG DRIVE NOVEMBER 1st-8th
In honor of our veterans and to give back to those who serve, Kidder is raising funds to support VCAS (Veterans and Community Assistance Services). All donations collected will be presented directly to VCAS. Students can make a donation and compete for a donut party - simply place your donation in an envelope marked "Fill the Flag," and the class with the most donations will win a donut party.
Thank you for your support!
The mission of VCAS is to enrich the lives of veterans, military families, and dogs through the many benefits of the human-animal bond.
Veteran Companion Animal Services (VCAS) is dedicated to improving the lives of both rescue animals and veterans in need. We believe that the bond between animals and humans can be incredibly therapeutic, and we work to place rescue animals with veterans who can benefit from their companionship and the human-animal bond.
By providing structure, companionship, and unconditional love, these animals can help veterans dealing with physical or mental health issues, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and social Isolation. The veteran also provides a stable forever home for their new companion. Our goal is to make a positive impact on both the animals and the veterans’ lives, creating a win-win situation for all involved. Put another way:
We rescue dogs to rescue veterans.

When to Keep Your Child Home from School
Deciding when to keep a sick child at home from school is not always easy. It’s important for children to attend school but when children are truly sick, they need to stay home in the care of an adult to get well and to prevent spreading illness to others.
Please keep the school office up to date with current phone numbers so you or an alternate contact can be reached if your child becomes ill or injured at school.
The following are common symptoms/diseases seen in school and may help parents decide when to keep their child home from school. This information does not take the place of consulting a medical provider.
Children need to remain home at least 24 hours after prescribed treatment has been initiated for:
Strep Throat
Impetigo
Ringworm
Scabies
Bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye)
Children need to stay home for at least 24 hours until symptoms are resolved for:
Fever –temperature of 100°F or greater
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Lice: Child can return to school after treatment with pediculicide and no live lice OR when free from lice or nits if not using pediculicide. Refer to district policy.
Keep the child home until a health care provider suggests and the school approves the child’s return for vaccine-preventable diseases such as Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Pertussis, Chickenpox, and Hepatitis.
If your child tests positive for Covid or has been exposed; your child may return to school when they are released to normal activity as advised by your health care provider.
Keep your child home and consider visiting your healthcare provider if your child appears ill with a deep or uncontrolled cough or significant lack of energy, even without a fever.
Keep your child home for an unexplained rash or with open, weeping sores that can't be covered or drainage contained while at school.
NOTE: This procedure is subject to change and will be reviewed and updated as needed. 8/22
