We are very excited about the addition of optional weekly COVID testing for students and staff in partnership with professional testing experts at Grapefruit. Weekly COVID testing is an added preventative layer that allows us to maintain safe and healthy learning environments for our neighborhood schools. This is essential for our students to stay in school and thrive, and this is done in partnership with you, our parents, our staff and our community.
I encourage you to tune in this evening with our testing experts from Grapefruit for an introduction on this additional layer of protection. If you are unable to attend, we will share the recording and additional information and forms with families on Friday, September 10, 2021. Weekly opt-in COVID testing is slated to begin the week of September 27th. Your school site principal will be sharing more details in the coming weeks about the COVID testing schedule at your school site.
As a community, we share in the goal to keep our families healthy and happy. We are excited to also be able to offer free community testing through Grapefruit also starting the week of September 27th. Details about times and location of these community testing opportunities will be posted online and emailed to our community. Optional Weekly COVID Testing - Introductory Town Hall Meeting with Grapefruit Health
We are pleased to share that we are partnering with healthcare professionals to provide regular, optional student testing at USD school sites starting mid-September. This new partnership with Grapefruit COVID Testing adds an additional layer in our safety protocols in order to continue to support healthy learning environments in USD.
The online Town Hall meeting will be presented by doctors from Grapefruit COVID Testing who will explain the optional COVID-19 testing program that will be available to all Union School District students attending school on campus. Only students whose parents/guardians authorize the testing would participate, and parents will receive secure, same-day results.
