Youth in Crisis Workshop
Two-Part Course Meets
Wednesday, February 28 • 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
and
Wednesday, March 7 • 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) experiencing a mental health issue, addiction or personal crisis.
Topics covered in the free course include:
Anxiety
Depression
Substance abuse
Disorders in which psychosis may occur
Disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD)
Eating disorders

Attention Current 7th Graders: National Junior Honor Society Information
Established in 1929, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is one of the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding middle-level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.
Requirements:
•Application date at end of 5th Six Weeks
•93 average in Core Classes ELA, Lit, Math, History and Science each of five six weeks.
•The semester test and grade are not averaged into that average
•Citizenship grades count
•Community service hours– At least 5 different places
•All community service hours must be recorded in your child's Career Cruising Account

Attention: Current 6th and 7th Graders
Mandatory Parent Meeting April 5th @ 7:45am or 5:30pm students who want to try out must have a parent attend one of the parent meetings in order to be eligible for tryouts. Any student trying out must attend all four days of the try out clinic April 16-19 3:30-4:30. Only students excused from the clinic will give prior notice of a UIL event or doctors note. Students absent from school on April 16th-20th will not be eligible to try out. Try outs will be Friday April 20th immediately after school from 3:30-??? Students will call their parents at the end of try outs.
