Around Campus
This week, we welcomed 600 enthusiastic 8th graders to campus for our annual "A Day in the Life of a Titan" visit! Our visitors experienced the full spirit of our school through an engaging assembly showcasing our exceptional student performers. The ASB, Song, Drill, Cheer, Band, and Choir teams put on an impressive display of Titan pride and highlighted their talent.
Throughout the day, our guests rotated through breakout sessions where they explored our rich campus traditions, toured our facilities, and participated in team-building activities led by our dedicated Link Crew leaders. A highlight for many was the student panel, where our current Titans shared authentic insights about high school life and answered questions from our future freshmen.
It was inspiring to see our current students take such pride in welcoming our future Titans to our Titan family.
Our administrators have been out to parent meetings at Los Nietos and Katherine Edwards this week and we will be at Andrews on Thursday 1/23.
PHS is going through the WASC Accreditation Self-Study Process and will have an on-site viist February 23-26, 2025. A component of this is for the reviewers to meet with parents. If you are interested in sharing your insights we are hosting a parent meeting on 1/29/25 beginning at 5:30pm. Please rsvp to Samuel.Sanford@wuhsd.org or call 562.698.8121 ext. 5020

New hours are 3:15 to 5:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, in room C8.

🎓 Attention Seniors: Earn the Seal of Biliteracy!
Parents of Seniors,
Your student received a presentation about the Seal of Biliteracy this week. This prestigious recognition, acknowledged in the Whittier Union District and across all fifty states, honors students who demonstrate proficiency in English and an additional language. Recipients receive a silver-colored medal to wear at graduation and are recognized at Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, May 21st, in front of their peers and family.
Students can earn this recognition by:
Completing four years of the same foreign language with an average of B or better
Earning a score of "3" or higher on their Language AP Exam OR
Taking a free proficiency test at Pioneer High School on Saturday, January 25th at 8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria with Mrs. Mendoza-Registration is required!
While we held a senior parent meeting in December to review these details, you can access the presentation shared with students by clicking the image. If students have questions, they may visit the Horizons office.
