Parents of Rising 9th Graders,
Is your student a first-generation college-bound student? If so, they should consider applying to CAMPUS for the 25-26 school year! While definitions vary among higher education institutions, LCPS utilizes the least restrictive definition of “first-generation”: neither household parent/guardian obtained a Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college/university immediately upon completion of high school.
The goal of CAMPUS is to provide first-generation college bound high school students with the resources, guidance, and support they need to successfully navigate the college admissions process and enroll in post-secondary education.
CAMPUS replaces students’ Study Hall block. Students participate in a 45-minute CAMPUS lesson and have the remaining class time as Study Hall. CAMPUS lessons focus on academic and college/career preparation. Additionally, CAMPUS students utilize SchooLinks, LCPS’ College & Career Readiness platform, to engage in career exploration and college and scholarship research.
CAMPUS students also have the opportunity to participate in fully funded field trips to college campuses across Virginia including George Mason University, James Madison University, NOVA, University of Virginia, Virginia State University, and more!
Students in the CAMPUS program are supported by their CAMPUS Facilitator and CAMPUS Counselor in addition to their assigned school counselor. These teachers and counselors work collaboratively to support each CAMPUS student as they navigate their plans for post-secondary success.
The CAMPUS application is open January 6th until March 7th and can be found in Student Opportunities through LCPSGO!
