LPAS Training for Teachers

Goal for Training
Teachers will become familiar with the use of LPAS in order to better serve the ELL population.
This training is intended to be hands-on.

In the upper left hand corner, you will find the TELPAS RUBRIC

The Search Tab will help you find:
- TELPAS Rubric
- Home Language
- Immigrant status and what year
- LEP Status (Monitoring, LEP, Denial, etc)

When planning your lessons, please use the TELPAS RUBRIC
This document will provide years in US Schools and Language ability in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
When you click on a student's name, LPAS will redirect you to the Student Detail Page.

- Student's Schedule
Rubric Pop Ups
You will also find a pop- up TELPAS Rubric to evaluate students, assist in TIER 1 Instruction, and list ELPS for you. This is accessed when you click on the Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDs).

Student Detail
When you click on a student's name within the rubric, LPAS will redirect you to the Student Detail page, which contains:
- All LPAC documents
- Testing History
- Student's Schedule
At the bottom of the LEP/Enrollment page is the student's Annual Status Review .
In the Annual Status Review, you will find important information about the student including:
- STAAR/TELPAS data
- Cognitive: Language Accommodations
- Affective and Linguistic Accommodations
ELL Instructional Accommodations
Utilizing the Annual LPAC, the The Instructional Accommodations from last year can be referred to in order to help you determine what accommodations you might begin the year with.
