Miller Weekly Update

Dear Miller School Community,

Fifth grade students had an awesome time at their field trip to Castaway Cove. It was good to see so many smiling faces enjoy the rides. Our orchestra students performed at their annual Spring concert at Fernwood Avenue Middle School on Wednesday, May 29th. A special thank you to our Fine & Performing Arts Department for ensuring our students were prepared for their spectacular performance.

On June 3rd, our 5th grade students are invited to attend 6th Grade Open House at Alder or Fernwood Middle School from 6pm-7pm. All 5th grade students should have received an invitation in the mail. We look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday. Have a great weekend.

Again, our school health specialist, Ms. Katherine Bosworth coordinated with Chef Shara Gadomski from Happy Heart Corner to conduct a cooking class as part of Atlantic Care's Healthy Schools program. Ms. Farmer's 5th grade A.M. and Ms. Mierzwinski's (gym/health) and Mrs.Catania's 4th grade A.M. classes were invited to watch Chef Shara prepare corn salsa, while explaining the benefits of eating healthy and allowing the students to use their math skills of adding and multiplying fractions to calculate proportionate amounts of ingredients to prepare larger quantities of the recipe. Before the class ended, the students and teachers got to sample the salsa with some tortilla chips. It was delicious! If you would like to try this recipe at home, you could find it below.
