Walk to Mary
Saturday, May 3th, 2025
We walk to Mary because she calls us. We walk because life is a journey of discovery and revelation, not a destination. Along the way, we tire, toil and triumph. We empty ourselves out, making room for the Holy Spirit to expand within us. When we arrive, tired and exhausted, we encounter the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion as a refreshing oasis along life’s journey, offering respite for all who are weary and thirsty.
Pilgrims of all ages and nationalities unite for this blessed event. Some walk in groups to share the experience and others walk in reflective silence. Everyone has their own purpose for completing the pilgrimage.
Answering the call. On October 9, 1859, the Holy Mother appeared to Adele Brise on the site
of the Shrine of Our Lady of Champion and gave her this message: “Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation. Teach them their catechism, how to sign themselves with the sign of the Cross, and how to approach the sacraments; that is what I wish you to do.”
The route is divided into four segments, representing the four sets of mysteries of the rosary. For pilgrims who cannot walk the entire distance you have options to start the pilgrimage at the “JOIN IN” points along the way!

Lessons from the Holy Family
- Faith and Trust in God: From the Annunciation to the flight into Egypt, Mary and Joseph displayed profound faith in God’s plan. Their trust reminds us to surrender our own worries and uncertainties to the Lord, especially in family life.
- Obedience and Sacrifice: St. Joseph, as the protector of Jesus and Mary, faithfully carried out his role with quiet strength. His example inspires us to fulfill our duties with love and selflessness, even when unnoticed.
- Mutual Love and Support: The love shared among Jesus, Mary, and Joseph radiates the beauty of authentic family life. Their unity in purpose and mutual support show us how to build strong bonds of love in our own families.
