YouScience is a self-discovery tool offered to all Tartan students in Grades 10-12. It is a series of online brain games that uncover our students' natural talents (aptitudes) and interests and then matches them with careers that are a good fit. Career Pathways will review results with all 10th grade students in early December. Meantime, get to know more about our Tartan students by reviewing this data:

Pathway: Business / Hospitality

Under the direction of our fabulous CTE Family & Consumer Science teacher, Jennifer Roberto, students in the Pastry & Baking class are learning the fundamentals of how to prepare baked goods and then use their creativity to decorate cakes. See the first place winners below. Students remarked that the hardest part of this unit was coming up with a creative theme, and best part was decorating, then eating the cake.

Educational investment: HS diploma or equivalent, usually on-the-job paid training, but it's helpful to have a portfolio (photos) of any work you have done on your own.

St. Paul College has a Pastry & Baking Certificate (30 credits).

The ACE Mentor Program is open to any high school student who has the curiosity and drive to learn about careers in architecture, construction and engineering. Students will work alongside these industry professionals to design and construct in simulation a real-world project. Students will have the opportunity to visit the actual build site.

The first meeting is Monday, Dec. 12th at Tartan HS in Room 112 from 3:30-5pm and will continue to meet weekly throughout Trimester 2. We can help you sort out transportation issues.
