A Note from Principal Marvel
The end of the year is fast approaching! A lot is happening in the next three weeks so I am outlining some of the more important items. Please take a moment to review.
All Things Class of 2024:
- April 30: Mandatory senior class meeting @ 9AM in WHS Theatre
- May 7: Senior Awards Night @ 6PM in WHS Gym
- Full-time WHS students will be recognized only. Concurrent students have their own awards night at their home school.
- May 9: Last day for seniors
- Senior finals will be completed prior to this date
- May 9: Senior Walk - seniors will meet in the commons at 1:55PM. Senior walk will begin at 2:05PM.
- May 16: Mandatory graduation rehearsal @ 11AM at the Menard Sports Center
- May 16: Graduation @ 7PM at the Menard Sports Center
- All seniors need to meet at WHS at 5:45PM in cap and gown
Finals Week: May 20-23
- Schedule will follow the normal bell schedule
- Finals for periods 1 and 6 will be on Tuesday, May 21st. Finals for periods 3 and 5 will be on Wednesday, May 22nd. Finals for periods 2 and 4 will be on Thursday, May 23rd.
- All classes will administer a final which will count for at least 10% of your child's semester grade. Finals are used to measure how well each student has learned the instruction over the course of the semester. A student has a chance to pass a class with a good grade from a final even if the overall grade is low.
- No early finals will be given. If students are unable to take finals on the day given, makeups will occur during 4Cs of the week of May 20-23.
- If students are unable to take a final due to illness or families have chosen to begin the summer break early, they will need to contact administration.
- Students will not be allowed to leave class during finals. Whole classroom breaks will be managed by the teacher. It is important that a quiet, stress-free testing environment is available for all students.
- Best practice for students prior to testing: 1) a good night's rest 2) a healthy breakfast 3) a positive mindset.

2024-25 Boundary Exemptions
Boundary Exempt applications for the 2024/25 school year are now available through your ParentVue account. Since our school receives over 200 boundary exemption requests each year, requests submitted before the last day of school have the best chance of being accepted and your student(s) will have a better chance at getting the classes that they want. Please remember that if you currently have a student that is on a boundary exemption, you need to fill out a new application every year. However, students from out-of-boundary schools must provide their own transportation. You must submit the Boundary Exempt request and receive approval from the school PRIOR to filling out an Online Registration. You will see two different versions of the Boundary Exemption application, one for this school year and another one for the next school year. The form for the 24-25 school year is near the bottom of the page. Follow the instructions for online registration and select the tab labeled “2024/2025 Boundary Exempt Request” to submit a boundary exempt request for the next school year.
Once you are logged in follow these steps.
1. In the top right corner, Click on: Online Registration
2. On the bottom of the page, select: 2024 Boundary Exempt Request
3. When you reach the STUDENTS section, select APPLY for the student you are submitting an exemption for and/or Add New Student
4. Input necessary information.
5. On the School Selection tab: input the school you are requesting an exemption for. Up to 2 selections can be made
6. If there are any additional students you are submitting an exemption for, select APPLY next to their name and/or click: Add New Student and repeat the process if needed
7. REVIEW/SUBMIT all necessary information and click: Review and then Submit

From The Nurse
As we near the end of our school year and prepare for summer adventures, here are some tips to avoid spending time in the Emergency Room or having life-threatening injuries.
- Wear helmets when wearing bikes, ATV’s or skateboards to help protect from life-threatening brain injuries. Helmet Safety
- Wear eye protection when fishing. Fishhooks can cause permanent damage to eyes. Protective lenses help keep your eyes on the prize this summer.
- Wear flotation devices in water! Wear properly fitted life jackets when playing in or near water. Life Jacket Safety Saves Lives
- Drink plenty of water to say hydrated but be sure to purify water from lakes and streams before drinking. Two Ways to Purify Water
- Be aware of your surroundings, being respectful of bears and moose. Bears and You
- Share your plans. Make sure someone knows your plans and when you expect to return. Plan your Hike
- Drugs and alcohol affect your judgement, slow reaction times, and decrease coordination. Don’t boat, ride, or operate machinery with anyone who is impaired by substances. Because this combination is so deadly, there are also legal consequences, including fines, jail time, and other penalties. Drug-Impaired Driving
Have a fun and safe summer!
