Principal's Message
Hello, AMS Students and families,
Our school spirit was on full display this past Friday night as students filled the school with energy, laughter, and joy during our school dance! Our leadership classes did an outstanding job organizing and hosting the event, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all our students. A special thank you goes out to our dedicated volunteers and PTSA members who helped supervise and sell concession items.
Speaking of our PTSA, I'm excited to share that they are currently recruiting for their 2025-2026 executive leadership positions. The following positions will be open:
- President
- Vice President
- Treasurer
- Secretary
If you're interested in taking on a leadership role in our school community, please consider joining the PTSA board. Elections will take place during the May board meeting. Our PTSA's partnership and support have been invaluable to our school community, and we're grateful for their continued dedication to our students' success and the service of our outgoing executive board members.
Important Dates to Remember:
- Thursday: Half-day dismissal at 11:15 AM
- Friday: Non-student day (No school for students)
Thank you for your continued support of our school community.
Best,
Kia duNann
Principal
Staff Spotlight
Melinda Moore:
Our sixth graders are diving into history and literacy through engaging projects in their ELA and social studies classes. In ELA, they are exploring the Titanic, analyzing historical accounts, and engaging in discussions about the event’s significance while practicing reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Meanwhile, in social studies, they are studying ancient China, learning about its dynasties, innovations, and cultural traditions. As part of this unit, they are creating Clan banners, incorporating symbols and colors that represent different aspects of ancient Chinese society. These hands-on activities help students connect with history in a meaningful and creative way.
Kirk Moore:
In 7th grade life science we are finishing up our introduction to genetics. In 8th grade physical science we have been studying chemical reactions with our first chemical reaction lab this Thursday.
