Monitor Elementary School
December 2024
Message from Principals
November was a wonderful month at Monitor Elementary! Our 3rd-5th graders took ATLAS interim assessments and were able to show all they have learned so far this year. Students participated in fun activities learning about Cherokee cultural traditions, second grade took a field trip to see a Razorback basketball game, and our fourth graders visited Hobbs State Park! Students also participated in a mock election and enjoyed guest speakers to learn more about Veterans Day. We had a great family STEAM night, and one of our fifth graders won our Shop with a Cop raffle and had the chance to ride to school in a police car with Officer Rhodes! We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! December is going to be a fun and busy month, and we're looking forward to all we have planned!

Student Check In/Check Out Procedures
The school day begins at 7:45am. Students who arrive after 7:45am should be checked in by an adult in the front office. If you need to change the way your child is going home, please contact your child's teacher or call the office by 2pm. Also, please note that if you are checking out your student, students will not be called to the office until a parent is in the office to pick them up so students are in class for instruction for as long as possible.
Box Tops for Education
Did you know you could earn money for Monitor just by buying groceries? Check out the Box Tops for Education app and support our school! If you connect the app to your Wal-Mart account this month, you'll earn a $5.00 bonus for Monitor! Thanks for helping to support our school!
Winter Bazaar
Students will have the opportunity to purchase a gift for someone at our Winter Bazaar on December 12th and 13th. All items will cost $1.00 and students will be limited to one purchase per student. We can't wait to see the fun items students pick as gifts!
Donations for Duck Day
Classes that earn 35 duck bills by the end of the nine weeks will be participating in our winter wonderland duck day! We would love to give a Little Debbie snack to each student who attends. If you would like to send a box of Little Debbie snacks, it would be greatly appreciated! Please send your donation to school by 12/13/24.
Booster Club Meeting
Our parent booster club will meet Thursday, December 12th at 5:00pm. We will share information about our new ATLAS assessment system and parents will hear from Mrs. Engelmann, our school counselor, as well. All parents are welcome to join!
Parent Center
If you have not yet visited our parent center, in the front lobby right outside the counseling office, we invite you to come look at the resources we have waiting for you! You can also check out our digital Parent Information & Resource Center linked below! This hub includes live links to direct families to community and state resources to help meet their needs. Our staff, including our social worker, counselors, parent liaisons, and more, are also here to assist families. We hope you'll find this resource helpful!

Dress Code Reminders
As the weather is changing and students are growing, please be mindful of the following school dress code items:
- Distressed jeans should have holes or rips above fingertip length.
- Shirts should be long enough so the midriff is not showing.
- Pajama pants should be worn on pajama days only.
If you need any help with clothing for your child, please contact the school and connect with our school social worker, Reina Hart.
Christmas Break
Students will be off Monday, December 23rd through Monday, January 6th for Christmas Break. School will resume on Tuesday, January 7th. We are wishing all of our families a wonderful break and time with family!
ROOMS Communication Platform
This year, all elementary schools in Springdale are using ROOMS as the primary communication platform between teachers and families. Families should download the Springdale Public Schools app to access communication with the teacher. You'll want to choose ROOMS in the bottom right hand corner and enter your phone number to request a security code be sent via text. Using the app, you'll be able to receive important updates and chat with your child's teacher. If you have trouble getting signed up, feel free to stop by the school for help getting ROOMS set up!
Inclement Weather
If there is inclement weather, please check the Springdale Public School Facebook page and the local news for school closings. As a general rule, we do not post if we are having school, only if the school will be closed.
