A Cimarron Middle School community communication
Wish Week
Wish Wish started today! Our Wish Student is Cimarron's very own, Pochie Kennedy! We appreciate our community participation during this time. Wish Week will last until January 31st.
Our Goal as a school is to raise $10,000 as part of our Wish Week celebrations. We are excited to participate in game stalls and kidnap a Teacher this year to raise money for Pochie!
Class Stalls Started Today- students have the opportunity to bring in donations for a chance to play fun, themed games and contribute to granting a child’s wish. Each class period must raise $50 for their class to be stalled. The game stalls will be set up by subject area:
Kidnap a Teacher - Two teachers (one core teacher and one elective teacher) that raise the most money will get a paid day off on Friday, February 7th. Core teachers will be collecting money for Wish week in Colts Community starting this Friday. The core teacher that raises the most money between Friday, January 24th and Monday, February 3rd will be “kidnapped” on Friday, February 7th. Elective teachers will also be able to raise money in all of their classes and the elective teacher that raises the most money will be “kidnapped” as well.
We encourage parents to support this effort by ensuring their students have the necessary funds, and we greatly appreciate any additional donations you may wish to make.
Thank you for your continued support as we come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others!
Mid Year Traffic Carpool/Parking Safety Reminders
We have seen a recent increase in the number of students moving throughout the parking lot after school to find their pick up cars. As you are also probably aware, the number of cars moving in and out of our parking lot during carpool is a lot. For the safety of all students we kindly ask that if you are parking to wait for your child, that you meet them at the front of the school to help walk them to the car.
Winter Dance
Get ready! The winter dance is next week. "Iced Over," will be after school from 3:30-5:30 on Friday, January 31st. The colors are blue, white and silver. Kids may come as dressed up as they like; semi-formal or formal attire is not necessary. We will sell bracelets before school and at lunch next week for $5. This bracelet gets them into the dance. They need to hold onto the bracelet, as we do not replace lost bracelets. We will be selling a sandwich, chips, cookie and drink meal for $10. This dance will be the culmination of our Wish Week activities, and our profits will go to Make-a-Wish. Should you have questions, feel free to email kristi.gillespie@dcsdk12.org.
Student Sleep Reminder
Middle schoolers need sleep—serious sleep! When they don’t get enough, it’s like trying to run a race with a flat battery. Sleep is the brain’s “recharge” button, and without it, concentration, memory, and even mood can take a nosedive. Lack of sleep makes learning harder, slows down problem-solving, and can make school feel like a drag. So, let’s help those brains rest up! A good night’s sleep equals a sharper mind and a better day of learning! This week, in we’re sharing tips on how to establish healthy sleep habits that can set your child up for a productive and focused school week!

PLC Work At Cimarron
In a PLC, teachers are not working in isolation. They have a network of colleagues to turn to for support, advice, and fresh ideas. This collaborative environment leads to a more dynamic and responsive teaching approach, benefiting students in countless ways.
Donations
Donations Needed: Please drop off all donations at the front office. We appreciate you!
We are always looking for gift card donations of $5 gift cards to support our Be RED card Friday Drawings. Students love Fika, McDonalds, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Berry Blendz, Swirls, Target, and Five Below gift cards.
In an effort to show our appreciation for our outstanding staff, we are launching an initiative to provide them with tokens of gratitude throughout the year. These tokens, though small, carry a significant impact in letting our staff know that their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. To achieve this, we have created an Amazon Wish List filled with a variety of small thank-you gifts that our staff members would greatly appreciate. These gifts will be given out as tokens of appreciation to those who consistently go the extra mile for our students.
The Be RED store is up and running! This opening week of second semester was a huge hit!!! 6th graders were joking that they had been saving their Red cards since Quarter 1!! We are employing 8th grade students to help run the store this year. It has been awesome to see their interactions with younger students and their hard work.
We are always looking for continued donations as our inventory gets pretty low; the best sellers are Air Heads, packs of gum, mini Gatorades, and lunch-sized bags of chips/ pringles/ goldfish/ etc!!
Feel free to search on this Amazon wish list but you can always go off board too! Ask your student for ideas on items they would like to see in the store! Thank you!
