Please help our students shine by making sure our students get plenty of rest each night and have a healthy breakfast each day. We also ask that you ensure that your child arrives to school each day on time and you avoid scheduling appointments during school hours. Finally, we ask that you talk to your child about doing their best on the test, but not to the extent that they are worried or stressed. This is not a test that students study for; it is a chance for them to show what they know!
Last Day of School Calendar Change
We're excited to have some flexibility in our calendar that allows us to move up our last day of school for all students this year. View the updated Academic Calendar on the district website.
Due to the fact we did not use all our built-in snow days, our official last day of school will be Thursday, May 30 (K-11).
May 29 will be an early release for grades 9-11, and May 30 will be an early release for grades K-11.
End of the Year Activities
Kindergarten End-of-the-Year Celebration- We will host an end-of-the-year celebration to recognize our kindergarten students for successfully completing their first year in school. The kindergarten celebration will take place on Friday, May 17. Mrs. McCulloch, and Mrs. Jacobsen's classes will hold their celebration at 10:00 a.m. Visitors can begin arriving no earlier than 9:30 a.m. Mrs. Adams, Ms. Rains, and Mrs. Turntine will hold their celebrations at 12:00 p.m. Visitors for this celebration can begin to arrive no earlier than 11:30 a.m. Both celebrations will take place in our gym.
5th Grade BBQ- At the end of each school year, we celebrate and honor our 5th-grade students who will be moving on to middle school next year. This event will occur on Friday, May 24, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Parent volunteers will be allowed to attend this year! We will ask 5th-grade parents for food and drink donations for this event. We would welcome any donations of canned sodas, chips, snacks, plates, burgers and hot dog buns, condiments, etc.
End of the Year Clap-Out- Another long-standing LVE tradition, the end-of-the-year "Clap-Out," will be scheduled for our final day of the school year, Thursday, May 30. This year we are excited to be able to invite parents to participate in this event. The final day of school will be an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 1:45 p.m. We will invite our 5th-grade parents to the clap-out ceremony beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Field Day- Field Day will take place on Tuesday, May 28. Students in grades K-2 will participate in field day activities in the morning (9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.), while students in grades 3-5 will participate in their field day activities in the afternoon (12:45 - 3:15 p.m.). If we were to be rained out on Tuesday, May 28, we will hold the event on Wednesday, May 29. Parent volunteers can participate in this activity. All volunteers for this activity will need to complete a Volunteer Background Check and complete a Field Day Volunteer form. Be sure to complete the volunteer background check as soon as possible.
BOGO Book Fair
It's BOGO Book Fair time! EVERYTHING is Buy One, Get One FREE at our Scholastic Book Fair! Students will shop with their class during their weekly library visit from Friday, May 10 - Thursday, May 16. We will be open on Friday, May 17, until 10:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity to stock-up with books for summer reading. Students can bring cash, checks made payable to LVE or set-up an electronic eWallet. The eWallet link is included on the book fair homepage. Please contact our librarian, Ms. Cook at jennifercook@wsdr4.org if you have any questions. Thank you for supporting our fair!
Class Placement Requests
In the coming weeks we will begin our class placement process for the 2024-2025 school year. We know many families like to provide preferrred characteristics for their child's teacher placement. We would love to gather this input. However, please be advised that, as in years past, we cannot accept specific requests for specific teacher placements.
If you would like to provide input and feedback in your child(ren)'s placement for next year, please send an email to Mr. Holler and/or Mrs. Keebey explaining what characteristics you feel would be beneficial for your child. We will take this into account to the greatest possible extent. Please do not include a specific teacher's name. We look at a wide range of factors in placing students, and cannot always guarantee a specific placement with a specific teacher.

Counselor Corner
Hi LVE families,
This month, students are busy learning about perseverance- what it means, how it will help us and how we can do it! Below are different ways you can help your child continue to learn about perseverance through reading about it, talking about it, and practicing!
Read About It!
Here are some books to help you learn more about perseverance:
The Curious Garden by Peter Brown
The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires
The Dot by Peter Reynolds
Practice It!
Help your child learn to persevere by engaging in difficult tasks with him/her. Buy a large puzzle, learn and perfect a new skill, etc.. Find something to do together and commit to pushing each other through the challenge.
Talk About It!
Here are some discussion points to help you talk about perseverance with your child:
•What do you think perseverance means and why is it important?
•Tell me about a time when it was hard to get through a challenge. How did you feel after?
•What are some things that are hard for you to push through, and how can I help you?
•What are 3 goals you have? What may be some challenges to meeting these goals?
Your School Support Team,
Stephanie Davenport (K-2 School Counselor)
Alissa Erbs (3-5 School Counselor)
Ally Tallin (School Support Interventionist)
Wear It Wednesday
Wear it Wednesday!
Every Wednesday at Lakeview is a House Spirit Day, which we call WEAR IT WEDNESDAY! If your child wears a shirt reflecting their house color, they get one house point. We recognize not all families or students have official house shirts, and we want to recognize students who rock their house colors. As a reminder the colors are:
Altruismo - Black
Amistad - Red
Isibindi - Green
Reveur - Blue
If your child comes to school in a house shirt OR wearing a shirt of their color, they earn a point for their house.
