CHIPS Weekly Update
October 25, 2024
To Our Morning Families
At this time of year, our playground equipment gets quite wet from the morning dew. We are looking for some parent volunteers who’d be willing to take a couple of minutes to wipe down the slides and swings after dropping off their child in the morning. This is a 5-10 minute task that would be so helpful in outdoor recess going smoothly in the morning. If you drop your child off for the AM session and you’d be willing to help, simply hang out after you’ve dropped your child off and ask for a towel. You can hang the towel over the playground fence when you’re done.
CHIPS Open House
Due to our varied schedules, we will be assigning times during the open house for you to visit your child's classroom. This will help cut down on congestion and ensure that your are visiting the classroom at the same time as your child's classmates. Classroom schedules will be sent home with your child.
Please note that parking at CHIPS is very limited. Please consider carpooling if possible and know that you may need to park on a nearby side street.
Volunteers Needed!
The PTO is also looking for volunteers to help with the basket raffle and bake sale. The sign up for baked goods and volunteers is below

Health News
With the fun upcoming events involving candy traditions, we ask that no child bring such items (Halloween candy, etc.) to school. It is best to save those special treats for home.
As there are many students with life threatening food allergies within our classrooms, we continue to advise that peanut/tree-nuts derived foods, shellfish/fish and (hard boiled/cooked) eggs not be sent in with your child for a snack or lunch. Keeping your children safe is our priority. We continue to practice hand washing daily, disinfect our surfaces and monitor our students closely as to not share food items.
Speaking of snacks, Nurse Kristen will start visiting classrooms reading age-appropriate books about their teeth/dental health while using a big tooth model with matching oversized colorful toothbrush for interactive, hands-on fun!
Please use our absence line (978-251-5188 Option 0) or email (chipsattendance@chelmsford.k12.ma.us) to report your child's absence from school and be sure to state the reason for the absence (illness, appointment, travel, etc).
Nurse Kristen can be reached by calling the CHIPS main number (978-251-5188) and selecting option 3.
