Kids in the Kitchen
Here's a fun recipe that will get the kids involved in the kitchen!
Pups in Cups
found in Cook It! The Dr. Seuss Cookbook for Kid Chefs by Daniel Gercke
Ingredients:
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 1/2 C all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 4 large eggs
- 1/3 C whole milk
- 1/4 C grated Parmesan
- 2 tbsp grated Gruyere
- 2 to 3 hotdogs, sliced into 24 pieces
Directions:
- Heat over to 400 degrees F. Spray nonstick cooking spray evenly into the cups of a 24-cup mini-muffin pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and pepper to taste. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Parmesan, and Gruyere. Pour the egg mixture into the large bowl with the dry ingredients and mix until they're just combined. Don't mix it too much!
- Spoon about 1 tbsp of batter into each muffin cup, then top with a hot dog slice. bake until your Pup Cups are puffed and set, about 10 to 15 minutes. Let cool slightly. Use a small, thin spatula to pop the pups out of the cups and serve 'em up warm!
