Upcoming testing dates...
As you know, the Post Galileo 1-8 assessments are quickly approaching. These tests are important, there are ways to help your students minimize stress and maximize performance throughout the testing process.
Below you will find some testing tips:
Test taking tips for Parents:
· Talk about the tests at home – Encourage your children to try their best on the test but not to stress.
· Give words of encouragement – Remind your child they have been preparing for this at school.
· Have your children get a good night’s sleep - Rest is important in having people feel their best.
· Get to school on time – Students who feel rushed to get to school, start their day with anxiety which leads to frustration and poorer test performance.
DON'T FORGET!
· Make sure your child attends school on the dates of the Galileo assessments.
· If your child is ill, please call the office to inform the school of the absence.
· Please check doctor visits and other appointments and make any change necessary to ensure your child is in school during testing.

Special Education Department Success Story!✨
⭐Meet: Dariel Velazco⭐
Dariel is a wonderful second-grade student at Ed Pastor Elementary who radiates positive energy wherever he goes. He attends a general education classroom and receives support from The Learning Club. It is a pleasure to work with Dariel and witness him challenge himself by arduously working daily toward achieving his language and academic goals.
Being a Spanish speaker learning English, Dariel felt more comfortable speaking Spanish. This year, he has pushed himself to leave his comfort zone by practicing English. He speaks mostly English throughout the day and seeks help when he needs translation. We are overjoyed to see Dariel's improvement in his English language attainment. His sentences are complete and meaningful, and he now confidently expresses himself in English to communicate himself across settings.
A positive attitude, a curious mind, kindness, willingness to learn and trying his best in everything he does, are a few of Dariel's many great qualities; we are extremely proud of him, he is a true Ed Pastor Patriot role model!

21st Century Program📚
We are pleased to announce that three of our 21st Century Sites have once again been awarded the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant!!!👏🏼
Cesar Chavez Elementary, Gadsden Elementary and San Luis Middle School will each receive this five-year grant for a total of about $540,000 each: $120,000 annually for first three years and $90,000 annually for the last two years.
“In Arizona, 21st CCLC programs build and sustain comprehensive out-of-school-time programs that provide high-quality academic enrichment opportunities for students attending high-poverty, low-performing schools. These programs meaningfully engage adult family members in helping their children succeed academically.”
