Greetings MAC Families!
Fall is officially here and Thanksgiving break is right around the corner. Fall always brings up a time to give thanks and a time to show our gratitude. We are thankful for you all and your partnership with us to help all of our students be the very best they can be.
This month we have our Thanksgiving lunches kicking off. There will be (3) different dates based on your child's grade level so please be sure to pay attention to the schedule below. All tickets will be sold online through Revtrak. If you need assistance with us please give us a call or some to the front office for assistance. We are here to help you all. Some important things to remember for this event.
-There is a limit to (2) adults to attend the event
-School age children are not allowed
-You must have a ticket and there will be no outside food for this event
-If you are attending multiple days you need a ticket for each day
We also would like to get some feedback from you all on how we are currently doing. Please use the button below to access a form to give us feedback. Also, please use the additional link to add something to our digital monthly newsletter. Please let us know how we can improve and add additional important information for you all. We truly appreciate all of your input and love working together as a community.
Attendance Matters
Parents,
Please read a few reminders in regards to attendance below:
-If students arrive past 7:35 am you must walk them into the building. Please do not drop them off and leave, they must be checked in by an adult.
-If your child was absent please be sure to turn in your excuse within 3 days of the child's absence.
Attendance is important and it takes us all working together. Remember, a missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn.

Message from Mrs. Kelley, Counselor
Hello! I'm Mrs. Kelley, your child's school counselor. I received my bachelor's degree at the University of Houston-Clear Lake and was a 2nd-5th grade Teacher for 11 years. In 2023, I began my counseling here at MacArthur Elementary after graduating from the University of St. Thomas in 2019. My goal is to nurture, educate, encourage, and provide resources that students need to be productive citizens of the Galena Park community.
Throughout the school year, students will discuss and learn about these character traits: Citizenship & School Pride, Tolerance & Compassion, Fairness, Honesty & Integrity, Perseverance & Courage, Responsibility, Respect, Courtesy, & Gratitude, Self-Discipline, and Trustworthiness. At MacArthur Elementary we strive to help the students become individuals with great character.. Character is something that is inward and a part of who they will grow up to be!
November's Character Trait is Fairness. Fairness is the quality of being reasonable, right, and just. Being fair means everyone gets what they need. Students will learn during the month of November how to play by the rules, take turns and share, be open-minded; listen to others, don’t take advantage of others, don’t blame others carelessly, and to treat all people fairly.
World Kindness Day- November 13th
World Kindness Day is to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness for good which binds us. Celebrate with us by wearing a Kindness shirt or by wearing the color yellow on that day.

This year's Multimedia Contest will consist of two rounds in the competition. Teams will be given a campaign theme on January 9, 2024 and will work on their own to complete the campaign. The round 1 product will be submitted no later than 12pm noon on February 12, 2024. The round 1 final product will showcase all 4 individual pieces of work and coding in a single video, website, interactive graphic, or presentation.
