Welcome to Reno Elementary, A Message From Jenna Showers, Principal
I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. I look forward to creating a strong partnership with our students and their families. I realize as partners, we share the responsibility for our children's success. I am committed to the achievement and growth I know the students of Reno Elementary are capable of!
As we work together to build a bridge between school and home, I encourage you to volunteer in your child's classroom, chaperone field trips, join our PTA, and visit our school website regularly as a means of staying informed in our students' day to day activities.
I am excited about the great things we will achieve this year and I look forward to working with each of you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Looking forward to a great year,
Jenna Showers, Principal

When Will You Get a Car Rider Tag?
All students will receive 1 car tag at Meet the Teacher and/or the first day of school. Additional car tags can be purchased for $2.
Vehicles with no car tags will be required to park, enter the office and show a form of photo identification.
The First Week of School- Pickup Line Will Be Slow... It will get better!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's what you can do to help:
1) Practice with your child so that they can say and respond to their first and last name. Teachers and staff will still be learning names through the first week of school. If your child can respond when their name is called and/or when asked their name, that would be helpful.
2) Don't arrive to pick up until around 3 p.m. Students will not be released until 3:20. Not arriving until 3 ensures the traffic not back up on Reno Rd.
3) Have your car rider tag everyday. While the caller will learn most of the cars/parent pick up people, there are days there are different callers. Also, keep your car tag hanging until your student gets in the vehicle please.
4) Pay attention to the station number you are given (by the caller) and pull up to that station.
5) Stay in line. Do not get out of line. If you are not in the same order as when the caller gave you your station number, your child will not be at the correct station.
6) If your child needs assistance buckling up, please pull into the parking lot to assist them after leaving the line.
After a few weeks, the line will be completely cleared in 15-20 minutes.
We appreciate your assistance!

Attendance Information
Attendance Information
Attendance Information- All absence excuse notes/letters are to be sent to Mrs. Reyna in the front office. Medically excused absences will not count against the student’s perfect attendance.
Attendance Laws- Regular school attendance is essential. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s education. The student and parent should avoid unnecessary absences. Two important state laws—one dealing with compulsory attendance and the other with how attendance affects the award of a student’s final grade or course credit—are discussed below:
1) At the elementary level, students are considered absent if they come to school 20 minutes after the start of the school day or if they are checked out from school 20 minutes before the end of the school day.
-Upon returning to school after being absent, late to school, leaving early from school, or sent home, the student must bring a note that is signed by the parent/guardian that describes the reason for the absence
-When a student incurs three or more unexcused absences within a four-week period, the law requires the school to send notice to the parent. The notice will:
Remind the parent of his or her duty to monitor the student’s attendance and require the student to attend school;
Inform the parent that the district will initiate truancy prevention measures.
A court of law may impose penalties against the parent if a school-aged student is deliberately not attending school. The district may file a complaint against the parent if the student incurs ten or more unexcused absences within a six-month period in the same school year.
2) Attendance for Credit or Final Grade (All Grade Levels) To receive credit or a final grade in a class, a student must attend the class at least 90 percent of the days it is offered. A student who attends fewer than 90 percent of the days the class is offered will be referred to the attendance review committee. The committee will determine whether there are extenuating circumstances for the absences and how the student can regain credit or a final grade.
