®️ September SEL Trait - Relationship Buildling®️
Good afternoon Riverton families!
Welcome to the first issue of the Bi Weekly Riverton School Newsletter. My goal is to provide a newsletter that is a resource for upcoming events, student/school celebrations, and a hub for community events/opportunities.
As I am entering my third year at Riverton School there are three overarching topics that I will embed into all aspects of our school community. My personal topics are direct reflections of our 2024-2025 Riverton District Goals. My topics of focus are:
- Equity (District Goal 1: Achieving Educational Equity for All Students)
- Relationship Building (District Goal 2: Promoting Social-Emotional Learning for All Students & Staff)
- Attendance & Academic Growth (District Goal 3: Fostering Student Growth & Achievement for Excellence)
One other quick reminder as we start the school year, all parents and caregivers please have your identification with you when you sign out your child. I look forward to an outstanding 2024-2025 school year, thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
Mr. Zagorski

Welcome New Staff
Ms. Madison Bryant - 4th Grade Teacher
Miss Joanna DiMiero - Kindergarten Teacher
Hi, my name is Joanna DiMiero and I am one of the new Kindergarten teachers. I was a member of the Riverton School District last school year where I was finishing up my student teaching. This past May I graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Psychology. Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and friends. I love going to trivia nights with my friends and I am quite good! I love watching the Phillies and going to as many games as I can throughout the season. I am super excited to be back at Riverton this year and being a part of this great community!
Ms. Jenna Feldman - Kindergarten Teacher
This will be my second year teaching but my first year teaching kindergarten. I'm from Mount Laurel and went to Rowan University. Outside of school I spend a lot of time with my family and friends; I love reality TV, seeing any kind of live music, reading and traveling. I am very excited to start a new school year and to work with everyone at Riverton School!
Mrs. Nicolette Frankenfield - Music Teacher
Hello, I’m so very excited to join the Riverton family. This will be my second full year of teaching music and I can’t wait to get started. I loved music since an early age and have been impassioned throughout my academic years as a student to pursue becoming a teacher and sharing that passion with future generations. I do enjoy performing when I get the chance to and I also enjoy reading. Here’s to a successful and wonderful new school year!
Ms. Melanie Mendel - K-5 Educational Assistant
I grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ. In my spare time I enjoy music, baking, and traveling. I am so excited to join the staff at Riverton School!
What is going on at the Riverton School?
Riverton School Summer STEM Camp a Success!
Thank you to all of our families, Mr. Zaun, and Ms. Swerdloff who helped make Riverton School's first Summer Stem Camp a success! Students engaged in lego robotics, rocketry and time trials, integrated math, science and problem solving into their daily activities!
Welcome Back Students & Staff!
On Wednesday, September 4th we opened with a staff breakfast provided by the amazing Riverton School PTO. Thank you for your continued support of our school community. A special shout out to the Riverton School Staff! Numerous staff members spent time this summer supporting our Summer STEM Camp, running small group enrichment sessions, and editing and creating curriculum documents to better meet the needs of our students.
On Thursday, September 5th, we welcomed back students with our traditional first day of school schedule. I saw smiles all around as our students lined up on the blacktop with their homerooms for some pictures and great conversations prior to launching our first official day back! Thank you to our Riverton PTO & Mrs. Veasy for providing the balloon arch and back drop for pictures!
Hispanic Heritage Month September 15th through October 15th
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th through October 15th in the United States. This month is a vibrant and culturally significant observance. During this time, we honor and celebrate the rich traditions, history, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. It commemorates the anniversaries of the independence of several Latin American countries, including Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The month serves as a platform for recognizing the diversity within the Hispanic community and promoting cultural understanding and appreciation.
National Suicide Awareness Week
Riverton School will recognize National Suicide Awareness Week during the week of September 8-14, 2024. We strive to prioritize one's mental well-being by creating safe, learning environments for our students. Our staff will continue to integrate social-emotional programs, bi-weekly mindful minutes, a Virtual Counseling Office, visits from our therapy dog and mindfulness during the day. The Riverton School has also partnered with NJ4S to offer on site counseling and care from NJ4S service professionals for families of our middle school students. Please reach out to Mrs. Almeida with any question or to inquire.
