Haverford Happenings
March 2024
The School District of Haverford Township requires verification of continued residency in the township and confirmation of contact information for students in fifth (5th) and eighth (8th) grade who plan to attend Haverford Middle School and Haverford High School in September 2024.
In accordance with Board policy #200, Enrollment of Students, the District requires each student’s residency to be verified by parents/guardians or other adults with whom the student resides prior to June 30, 2024.
Student schedules will only be issued to those students whose residency is verified.
Families must submit their verification documents through their PowerSchool parent account (PowerSchool Parent Accounts) starting March 1, 2024. Each student verification requires two (2) acceptable documents, as outlined in the current policy and in their entirety, with the address and name(s) clearly indicated. Examples of acceptable documents include:
- Deed
- Mortgage Statement
- Settlement Statement
- Current Lease Agreement
- Current Property Tax Bill
- Current Utility Bill
- Current Credit Card Bill
- PennDOT Identification Card
Documentation submitted by families will be reviewed for authenticity and accuracy beginning in March and continuing through June. Once your child’s documents have been verified, confirmation will be communicated through your PowerSchool parent/guardian account.
Failure to verify residency and contact information by June 30th may result in the initiation of a nonresident student removal proceeding in accordance with Board Policy 202.
If you encounter a problem during the process, please contact ITHelpDesk@haverfordsd.net.
The PSSA testing window is scheduled from April 22 to May 10, 2024. The District has thoughtfully considered the schedule to ensure that students observing Passover can participate in the tests without interfering with the state-provided testing dates. Testing will commence on April 24th in our elementary and middle schools. We are sharing these dates in advance with families to allow for ample time and opportunity for scheduling purposes.

Cultural Exploration of the Spanish-Speaking World
¡Hola escuela!
The Cultural Exploration of the Spanish-Speaking World course is taught in entirely in Spanish, and it focuses on various topics such as mosaics, textiles, kite making, stop-motion movies, and artivism in Spanish-speaking countries. The high school students did an excellent job of creating projects inspired by works in Cuba, Mexico, Spain, Panama, Argentina, and Guatemala. They compiled a digital portfolio that showcased their eight main projects in various mediums. Through the process of reflecting on their portfolios, the students got to know themselves a little better in addition to learning about different cultures. Please visit their website through the link below to learn more about the course!

Creative Arts and Social Emotional Wellness
The arts can play a vital role in promoting social-emotional wellness. Coopertown Elementary School strives to help all students flourish socially, emotionally, and academically. With the help of Marisa Woodworth (school counselor) and Alejandro Camacho (art teacher), students are welcome to help complete murals in the school's hallways as a means to promote emotional regulation, stress reduction, and belonging. Engaging in art can be a unique way for children to develop and understand social and emotional wellness as it provides opportunities for self-expression, emotional release, and positive social connections. Whether through the creation or appreciation of art, people can experience a range of psychological benefits that contribute to their overall focus, purpose, and well-being.
