Deerfield Updates
Dear Deerfield Families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Fun Day on Friday! It was a fantastic event full of laughter, energy, and joyful memories. Our students had an incredible time, and it was all made possible by the teamwork of our staff and volunteers.
A very special thank you goes to Mrs. Leggott for all of her hard work and dedication in organizing Fun Day for our school. Her thoughtful planning and attention to detail helped create a day our students will remember for a long time!
As we enter the final week of the school year, I want to sincerely thank you for your support and for being such an important part of our Deerfield community. It’s been a wonderful year of growth and learning, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out over the summer if you have any questions or concerns. We’re always here to help.
One small note: our flag cable broke last week. Our facilities director is working diligently to get it replaced, and we look forward to having the flag flying again soon!
With gratitude,
Dr. F.

Things to Know
Nebraska Reading Improvement Act: Summer Opportunities
As part of our commitment to supporting every learner, we want to remind you of the Nebraska Reading Improvement Act. This legislation requires that summer reading programs be made available to any student in grades K–3 who has been identified as continuing to have a reading difficulty.
These summer reading opportunities can be:
-
School-based (offered by Deerfield or local schools)
-
Community-based (offered by public libraries or other local organizations)
-
Online (virtual programs that can be done from home)
We are here to support you in finding the best fit for your child. The NebraskaREADS: Summer Reading Adventure packet and the Family Resources offer helpful ideas, activities, and tools to keep reading fun and engaging over the summer months.
At Deerfield, we also encourage continued use of programs such as IXL and Lexia, which students are already familiar with and can access from home.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about your child’s reading progress or would like more information on available summer reading programs.
Together, we can keep the love of reading growing all summer long!
Lost and Found
It is close to the end of the year! Help us return these lost and found items to the rightful owners!

There are multiple pages to view, and you should be able to zoom in on the images to get a better look at each item. Any items not claimed within a reasonable amount of time will be donated to a local charity, so we encourage you to take a look soon!
Medication Pick Up
As we approach the end of the school year, please remember to pick up any medications your child has in the health office. All medications must be picked up by the last day of school. Medications cannot be stored over the summer and will be properly disposed of if not collected.
If you have any questions, please contact our Health Aide, Tina.McIntosh@blairschools.org
