MCS Viking News
...from the Principal's Desk October Edition
From Mrs. Lake
Finally, Fall is in the air, and our school year is well underway as we prepare to wrap up our first grading quarter. We have had plenty to celebrate this past month, and it all began with Grandparents' Day on the 6th. We were thrilled to welcome approximately 350 grandparents to our building. The students were so excited to show off their classrooms and participate in classroom activities with their grandparents. It's such a special day for everyone! If you haven't had a chance to see all of the picture, please check out our MCS FaceBook page.
Some of our students also celebrated Pirates' Day and Johnny Appleseed Day. Students participated in outdoor activities, read books, and ate apple pie. This past week, we also celebrated Attendance Awareness Week with special dress-up days. Students were reminded each day about the importance of attendance in school.
Lastly, we celebrated our last year's third grade class (current 4th graders) who had a 100% passing rate on the IREAD test. Indiana has a goal of a 95% passing rate on this test, but for two years in a row we have been able to achieve 100%. This is an amazing accomplishment and is all thanks to the hard work of our students, parents, teachers, and support staff who go above and beyond every day to make sure our students have what they need to be successful.
I am looking forward to an exciting October. Please be sure to look over all of the dates and information listed below. It's going to be another busy month! As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
