RES Weekly Buzz
We were fortunate to have such beautiful weather this week, so our students could enjoy their recess outside. Please remember to send your students with layers as we have entered the beginning of fall weather. Just a friendly reminder to label your student's clothing, as we already have a pile of unclaimed sweatshirts and jackets.
This week, our staff enjoyed part of their professional development day with staff from Project Adventure. The sessions gave the district faculty and staff a project adventure experience that pushed them outside their comfort zone. The sessions focused on the importance of using our healthy anxiety and fears to build trusting teams that support the collective growth of our community. The skills and lessons learned will be directly transferable to the classroom, guided by practical, hands-on experiences that embody the strong relationships we seek to create across students, staff, and the larger community. We are grateful to have had this fantastic experience and to now be able to transfer some of our experiences to the classrooms.
RES has a busy few weeks coming up with a Halloween Parade, Trunk or Treat organized by PTO and a special presentation called NED's Mindset Mission. We are excited for each of these events that provide our students and staff with some organized fun!
Enjoy your weekend.

NED's Mindset Mission
We are excited about NED's Mindset Mission coming to RES on October 28th!
"From the moment your students enter the room, our captivating performer takes them on a 45-minute journey filled with humor, yo-yo and magic tricks, puppetry, and storytelling. The assembly introduces a cartoon boy named NED who is on a very important mission: to find his mindset. Led by clues and memorable characters, he overcomes Mt. Everest’s toughest obstacles, uncovers inner-treasures on a Caribbean island, and grows his brain while repairing a sputtering spaceship. Throughout the performance, your students discover how to activate their growth mindset to overcome social, emotional and academic challenges."

Principal/Family Partnership Series
We are excited to present the RPS Principal-Family Partnership series. All parents, guardians, and families are welcome to join us from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the John Lane Auditorium on the evenings listed below. The informal presentations will support families by bringing in outside resources and professionals to educate us on the most complex and current trends within the dedicated topics. Each date holds a unique theme and is designed to provide families with current information while allowing for open and meaningful dialogue. The experience will foster the importance of the school-family partnership in effectively managing the most complex of issues our kids face. Outside professionals will lead the presentations, but RPS administration and related staff will attend meetings to learn, share, and grow with you. We hope to see you all there!

SEPAC Volunteers Needed
The Rockport SEPAC is in need of a revitalization and looking for new members. The SEPAC is a self-governing public body which creates its own by-laws and operational procedures. A SEPAC is different from other parent groups in a school district such as a PTO or School Council – a SEPAC does not represent families from one school, but represents all families of children with disabilities from the entire school district. If you are interested in holding a Board position: Chair, Co-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer or a Board Member at Large position, please send me an email. Just want to be included ? Reach out to be a building representative. Contact Ann-Marie Luster, Interim Director of Student Services to sign up or find out more at aluster@rpk12.org.
