Dear Students & Families,
We are quickly approaching the mid term! Today our juniors took the NMSQT PSAT; seniors are applying to CO schools during the Free Colorado Application Days this week; fall sports are getting ready for Homecoming next week; and we have fall break and parent teacher conferences around the corner. We have a home football game on Friday, so we look forward to seeing the community out for Friday Night Lights!
Parent Teacher Conference Reminder
Conferences are 10/29 10am-6pm and 10/30 8am-4pm.
Conference registration opened yesterday; please check your email for directions on how to login and sign up.
All conferences at AHS are 10 minutes long and are virtual.
Students MUST attend conferences to ensure they are empowered to discuss their strengths and challenges in each course.
Cell Phone Update
Students continue to do really well without their cellphones; since the start of school we have averaged 2 infractions a day, which is amazing.
If students reach a 3rd Infraction (this includes phones, airpods, & personal computers), students will be required to turn in their phones to the office at the start of school each day and then pick them up after the last period ends; this will continue for the rest of the school year.
AHS Booster Club
Please support the AHS Booster Club and join today!
Did you know that the AHS Booster Club goes beyond the sidelines to support our student-athletes? In addition to enhancing our athletic programs, the Booster Club provides scholarships for supplemental fees to support students who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch. These scholarships help ensure that all our athletes have equal opportunities to participate and thrive in their chosen sports. All recipients of this scholarship will be kept confidential.
For more information about these scholarships, please reach out directly to John Castrese at jcastrese@aspenk12.net or Adrianna Tippit-Martelli at atippitmartelli@aspenk12.net
Restroom Update
The Superintendent, our SROs, teachers, and I have been patrolling the restrooms throughout the day. Our presence has made a difference as we have not had an uptick in any incidents. We will continue to be vigilant about entering the restrooms throughout the day.
Digital Citizenship
This week is Digital Citizenship Week. Anita Moose, who teaches our IT courses, will be doing lessons on digital citizenship for her classes. Here is a great resource for families: Common Sense Media about AI
Travel Opportunity! Students, join Kate Korn & Cory Parker for an adventure!
Cory and Kate are really excited to share that they are planning another EF tour trip next summer, 2025... to Ecuador!
An informational meeting for students and parents
will be held on October 17, in the AHS Seminar Room, 5:30 to 6:30
Please be sure to register for this info session to be considered for this opportunity: https://rsvp.eftours.com/b8gc8vz
When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.
At the informational meeting, we’ll talk about:
What we’ll see and do on our trip
Everything that’s included in this experience
How your child can earn academic credit
How we’re keeping this safe and affordable
How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period
There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
