Let's Keep the Momentum Going!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you had a restful and joyful Thanksgiving break with your loved ones! As we transition back to school, we want to remind you of the importance of maintaining regular attendance throughout the remainder of the year. Good attendance is key to your child's academic success, and returning strong after the break can help keep up the positive momentum they've built so far.
Here’s why regular attendance is so important:
Consistent Learning: Every school day counts! When students miss school, they miss out on valuable learning experiences that build upon each other.
Positive Habits: Showing up on time and ready to learn helps establish strong routines, responsibility, and self-discipline.
Stronger Social Connections: Being in school allows students to continue building relationships with their teachers and classmates.
Tips to Help Your Child Return to School After the Winter Break:
Plan Ahead: Set a routine before school resumes to ensure your child is well-rested and ready to jump back into learning.
Stay Organized: Help your child prepare their school bag and any homework or projects they may need to bring back.
Promote a Positive Attitude: Encourage excitement about returning to school by discussing what they look forward to and the goals they want to achieve in the coming weeks.
We understand that there may be challenges, especially during this busy season, but maintaining strong attendance is a team effort, and your support is crucial! Together, we can help your child succeed academically and develop important lifelong habits.
Let’s finish the year strong—attendance matters!

We are EXPLORERS!
We are excited to share a new interactive map in our office highlighting the incredible diversity of our DEE community. The map features pins representing each student's home language, native language and birthplace.
Did you know? Students at DEE represent 18 native languages and 12 home languages!
Student Drop Off Reminder
Just a quick reminder that if you drop your student off after 9:10am, you must come into the office to sign them in. We appreciate your cooperation!

Highly Capable Referral Window - Closes December 12th
Does your child perform at significantly advanced academic levels compared to others? Consider referring them for the district's Highly Capable Program. SBLSD’s Highly Capable Program provides services, curriculum and activities that extend learning beyond the curriculum provided in schools and is designed so that all students of outstanding levels of aptitude may develop their abilities.
The referral period for our Highly Capable Program opens on Nov. 12 and will remain open until Dec. 12. Students can be referred by a staff member, a parent/guardian, or a community member. Referral links will open Nov. 12 and can be found on the SBLSD website here.
Please note: Second and fifth grade students will participate in a Highly Capable Universal Screener in the fall, and therefore do not need to be referred to be considered for services.

Update from PTA
Winter Funderland
This month, the PTA is bringing a new school day event for all students on December 20th, the DEE Winter Funderland! With the help of DEE’s amazing Specialist Teacher Team, each grade level will visit the Funderland event for 45 minutes during their specialist time and enjoy exciting winter themed games, crafts, and activities together! The PTA has also decorated the windows, commons,
hallways, and stage with beautiful polar decor for this month/event. We are looking for volunteers to help on the day of the Winter Funderland event! Are you free to help the Specialist teachers and PTA host this memorable event by running games and stations? We would LOVE your help! Please email Laurel with volunteer interest at events@donaldeismannpta.org or visit bit.ly/DEEfunderland to signup.

We’re looking for 1-2 volunteers to join the Nominating Committee for the upcoming school year. This team will help identify and recommend candidates for PTA leadership positions. If you’re interested in helping shape the future of our PTA, please contact: volunteer@donaldeismannpta.org
