Please be sure to join us for the Celebration of Learning that will take place on Thursday, May 16. Your child will want to show you how they have grown this year. It will be exciting. They will be so proud to show off their classroom, show you some of their work, and maybe introduce you to some friends they have made. Come anytime between 6:00-7:00 p.m. on May 16. We hope to see you there!
Summer is right around the corner and we wish you the very best yet! Get out and play, ride a bike, take a walk, read a book...do whatever makes you happy! Thank you for making it a great year!
Mrs. Farmer

New CDC Guidance for Respiratory Viruses (including COVID)
We have received some updated guidance from the CDC, as they have recently changed the COVID isolation rules. Individuals may return to school after 24 hours of improving symptoms and being fever free without use of fever reducing medications. The recommendations also include, for the 5 days after you return, to take additional precautionary measures which can include physical distancing, hygiene, mask use, and steps to improve air quality.
The CDC qualifies these changes by acknowledging that nearly the entire population has some immunity to COVID from having had the disease or by vaccination. However, the CDC is clear that further prevention of COVID and other respiratory diseases includes keeping current with recommended vaccinations; these would include COVID, Flu, and RSV.

Fun game to work on counting at home.
Fill The Cup
What You’ll Need
- Popcorn or other light but bulky snack
- 2 plastic cups
- A pair of dice
What To Do
You and your child will each have your own plastic cup and a die.
You’ll start by rolling your die one person at a time. Whatever number you get, you’ll count that many pieces of popcorn into your cup. The idea is to see whose cup fills up first!
(To make this more challenging, use 2 dice and add them together before adding the popcorn to a bigger cup.)
Before enjoying the snack, empty the cup on the table and count how many pieces were in the cup. What’s better than snack time and math time?
Message from Mrs. Breza
Hello Parents and Guardians:
In music class we have practiced saying Hello in different languages. Some ways to say hello are Hola (Spanish), Jambo (Swahili), Guten Tag (German), Ni hao (Chinese), Marhaba (Arabic) and Konnichiwa (Japanese). We have made these as part of our greeting throughout the year.
Recently, we have been learning to decode music. Syllables of words in songs can be broken down into rhythms. Using these rhythms, we will be able to play rhythms on unpitched instruments as a group. Some younger classes are using shakers, bells, and castanets to keep the beat. Music students are also learning that there are patterns in music like there is in language and math.
Throughout the year, students have learned song games such as “Tisket a Tasket”, “Blue Bird”, “Frog in the Meadow”, “Charlie Over the Ocean”, “Lucy Locket”, “A Sailor Went to Sea” and Bow Wow Wow. These can keep children entertained when they meet up with friends and family and they are looking for something to do.
Wishing you a glorious summer!

Message from Mrs. Tubbs
Did you know that showing up on time every day is important to your child’s success and learning from Young Five’s forward? Missing 10% of school (1 or 2 days every few weeks) can make it harder to:
• Gain early reading and math skills.
• Build relationships.
• Develop good attendance habits.
Making school a priority has many benefits!
• The routines your child develops will continue throughout school.
• Make the most of early grades by encouraging your child to attend every day
Some absences may be unavoidable because of illness or other reasons. Try not to let your child miss school unless absolutely necessary. If it is necessary for your child to miss school, please call the office (517-279-5960) to notify us.

Pick Up: When picking up your child from school in a car you must use the car line. Any students that need to be picked up early will need to be picked up by 3:25. Anything after that, the child will do their normal end of day transportation. Again, the staff parking lot is reserved for staff and bus use. Please do not pull into this parking lot. Thank you again for your help with this.
