Prairie Rose Post
November 2024
Message from our Principal
Hello Prairie Rose Families,
I am thrilled to share some exciting achievements with you! This fall, our students excelled on their MAP assessments and the North Dakota State Assessment (NDSA) last spring. Please see the Parent University below for more information. These outstanding results are a testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the support from you—our families. We’re incredibly proud of the growth we’re seeing across all grade levels, and we’re committed to continuing this momentum.
We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Parent-Teacher Club Haunted Carnival! The turnout was fantastic, and it was so rewarding to see our families enjoying the evening with us. Events like these strengthen our school community, and we’re grateful for your involvement and support.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to making this year a success!
Warm regards,
Dr. Tabby Rabenberg

Literacy Adventures
Family Literacy Practice:
Building a family practice of gratitude can be a simple yet powerful way to strengthen connections and foster positivity at home. You can incorporate gratitude into daily routines by starting a gratitude journal, where family members jot down or draw things they're thankful for. Another idea is to create a "kindness jar" where acts of gratitude are shared. You can also model gratitude by talking about it regularly, such as during car rides or at the dinner table. Reading books that highlight gratitude and sharing your thoughts along the way is another wonderful way to cultivate this practice of talking about gratitude.
Digital Safety Tips:
In this month's newsletter, we’re sharing helpful tips for building news and media literacy with your children. With so much information coming from TV, phones, and social media, it's important for kids to develop critical thinking skills. Here are five simple ways to help: encourage healthy skepticism by questioning media messages, play "spot the ad" to understand advertising tactics, explore different perspectives on the same story, discuss the difference between facts and opinions, and choose news from a variety of trustworthy sources.
Nurse's Note
November Newsletter from Nurse Shyla
Healthy brains and healthy bodies are vital to learning. If you ask most students who come into the nurse’s office for one reason or another, my advice is often the same, “Drink water, and lots of it!” Being well hydrated, along with eating well-balanced meals and being physically active, will help students feel better, think better, and learn better!
Here are 7 Habits of Healthy Kids:
1. Practice good hygiene by WASHING YOUR HANDS, especially before you eat!
2. Stay energized by eating nutritious meals and snacks. Eat a healthy breakfast every morning!
3. Get a good night’s rest. School aged children need at least 8-10 hours of sleep per night.
4. EXERCISE! Run, walk, stretch, and play!
5. Brush your teeth and floss every day!
6. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze to keep from spreading germs.
7. Make good choices for a happy, healthy, YOU!
