Chisholm Update
August 30, 2024

Happy Friday Chisholm Families!
Welcome Back! It was great to be back in school today having missed so many days the last couple of weeks due to weather and Monday's holiday. Hopefully, we will begin to thaw out over the weekend and it appears warmer weather is in the forecast for the coming week, which I think we are all looking forward to experiencing after the recent cold spell. I hope you and your family are doing well and fingers are crossed that moving forward we will be able to get into normal swing of 5-day school weeks.
2024-25 Yearbooks - The deadline to purchase a 2024-25 yearbook is next Friday, February 28.
You can now order your yearbooks from the Jostens' website by clicking this link. We typically don't get many extra yearbooks when they get delivered, so please purchase your yearbook before next week's deadline to secure your yearbook.
Even through we've missed several days over the last couple of weeks, the 3rd-grade program is scheduled to take place next Thursday, February 21. The 3rd-grade classes are going to be split into 2 evening performances, both of which, will take place in the cafeteria. The 6:00 program is for students in Diaz, Thompson, and Currat. The 7:00 program is for students in Billy, Whaley, and Campbell. Splitting the classes into 2 separate performances will help with parking and seating during the programs. The students and teachers are working hard to make up for missed days, and we are excited to see these classes perform next week!
The lunch menu for next week is going to be changing and it has been added below. This change is due to the recent weather, what we weren't able to use, and lack of deliveries during the week along with us not having school. This menu change is for February 24 - 28.
This coming Monday (24th) and Tuesday (25th) Chisholm will be conducting vision screenings. All students (Pre K - 5th) will receive a vision screening over these days . Parents will only receive information from these screenings if their student doesn't pass or might need to see an eye doctor.
Next Friday, February 28, we will be celebrating our February birthday students with a treat and book during the school day.
The February PTO Minutes have been added below to this newsletter. Thank you Amanda Lewellen for taking these notes each month and thank you PTO for all your continued support of our school, staff, and students.
I hope you have a great weekend and having the ability to get outside and enjoy some warmer temperatures!

Swine Week and the Common Thread - Edmond Memorials annual fundraiser, Swine Week, should be ramping up in the next few weeks as we get towards the end of January. A flyer has been added below from Memorial High School outlining some events that our students can participate in over the coming weeks. This year's Swine Week recipient is The Comeback Kid Society. This group provides assistance to young students residing in foster group homes, juvenile detentions, and treatment centers.
The Common Thread is the Edmond Middle School and Elementary fundraiser that supports a different organization and runs at the same time as the high school philanthropic weeks. This year's Common Thread recipient is No Boundaries International, which is a faith-based, trauma-informed organization that connects those that want to help with those that need help the most. Our fundraising event for the common thread will be our annual penny wars, which will kick off the week before spring break (Friday, March 7 - Thursday, March 14).
Pre -K Lottery Application Period - Even though it's still a few weeks out, I've added the flyer that outlines the timeline for parents that want to submit a application for 2025-26 Pre-K. Applications are available at edmondschools.net or you can visit the District Administrative Center for assistance. The application submission time is February 10 - 24.
Arrival Drop-off Procedure Reminders - Please help us in making sure students safely to school by following these procedures:
- If you’d like to stay in your car, enter the drop-off using the entrance by our school marquee. Students can exit via passenger side of car using the sidewalk and entering the building towards our front doors. Do not drop students off in the west parking lot.
- If you don't want to use the drop-off line, you may park your vehicle and walk your students through the parking lot to one of the crosswalks. Please wait for the duty teacher to tell you when to cross. Do not allow your child to walk in the parking lot unattended by an adult.
- Do not use one of the handicapped parking spaces without proper identification on display.
- If you arrive after 8:45 and the duty teachers have entered the building, please plan to park and walk your child into the building to check them in using the kiosk by our office.
Dismissal Reminders
At the end of the day, we ask that early checkouts happen before 3:00. If your student is a 33rd Street Walker, they should live in Old Farm or Thornbrook. If your student is a Spring Hill Walker, they should live in the Springhill Neighborhood or the subsequent neighborhoods that are too close to receive bus transportation. Students that ride a bus will load from the gym once their bus arrives at school. If you need specifics on bus numbers and times please click this link, which will ask you to fill out your address.
Car Riders will need to use the Red Hangtag, which was given out at Meet the Teacher. (If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher, our office is open 8-3:30 on Wednesday August 14.) Please be sure to make sure this tag is visible to the person out front entering the number by our marquee. Once their number has been entered, students will come out of the building by the first grade hallway and be positioned by one of the concrete bollards numbered 1-6 (please be sure to stay out far enough aways from the bollards so your car door doesn't get dinged). If you don't have your hangtag, you will need to pull in and check your student out from the office. There is a button below that goes through the Car Rider procedures.
