A Message from the Principal:
North Families,
It was wonderful to see many of you in person and virtually at Parent/Teacher Conferences this week. It is through strong home/school connections that we continue to build a supportive school community for our students. Thank you for your dedication to making that happen!
We hope to see many of you at the rivalry game tonight! The North vs. South Community Tailgate will be held form 5-7 at North on our grass fields by the tennis courts. There will be food trucks, inflatables, face painting, and community tables representing multiple organizations across the Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods Communities. Kickoff of the game is at 7 pm. Halftime of the game will feature a combined North and South band performance as well as performances by our dance team and cheerleaders. Come out and support our community at this amazing event.
Overflow parking will be available at Parcells, Ferry, and Barnes. The district will have shuttles running from these three parking lots to North throughout the evening.
Take care,
Dr. Sara Delgado

Senior Parents:
We are ONE WEEK away from the November 1st early action deadline. Please check in with your seniors about their college applications. Please carve out some time this weekend to talk about their progress and what steps they still need to finish. Students should be pressing that SUBMIT button. Those who qualify could receive up to $5,500 if they attend a Michigan public university, private college or university or are enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at a Michigan community college, per year, up to five years
To learn more, families can attend an information session by clicking HERE.
College Application Reminders:
October is College Application Month in Michigan and it’s happening NOW. Many colleges are free with no application fees and there are several colleges in Michigan that are waiving the application fees with a code. Please see the document HERE.
Early Decision v. Early Action. Early Decision is BINDING so students should be incredibly careful about choosing this option. If accepted, students are expected to attend an early decision college. Students can only apply to one college using Early Decision. Early Action is non-binding so students apply early and hear early but are not bound to attend.
November 1st is the early action and merit scholarship deadline for many schools but make sure that you check the college’s website. There are a few colleges in the country with October 15th early action/merit scholarship deadlines. Seniors need to know when their applications are due! We suggest keeping a spreadsheet of all the schools and scholarships with deadlines to help stay organized. A template was shared last year but can also be found HERE.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available in December. The amount of need-related aid for which a student is eligible is determined by the information they supply annually on the FAFSA. This is a delay from the expected October 1st release. Stay tuned for more information as we receive it.
What is the SRAR (Self-Reported Academic Record)? Several colleges across the country require students to complete a self-reported academic record (SRAR). After the student submits the application, they will get an email to login to their SRAR portal and complete this step. This entire process is due by the early action deadline (usually 11/1/24). Make sure your student knows what each college requires for admissions so students don’t miss a step!
Beginning in Fall 2024, Michigan high school seniors and recent graduates are eligible for the Community College Guarantee. Click HERE to read more about this opportunity.

Sinking Fund Updates
Important Reminder: Election Day is November 5th!
On the ballot, you will find a proposal for a sinking fund millage for the Grosse Pointe Public School System. The revenue generated from this millage is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing our facilities, improving safety and security measures, supporting technology upgrades, and acquiring transportation vehicles.
The sinking fund has historically enabled Grosse Pointe Public Schools to proactively address improvements and repair issues before they escalate into costly problems. This approach supports our efforts to keep our schools in excellent condition in order to provide a safe and conducive learning environment.
For more information, please visit us at www.gpschools.org/millage
