ALL THINGS RECITAL • SUMMER DANCE • FALL DANCE

There is a lot in this newsletter. Please keep it handy as it has all the information needed for recital, summer dance and fall dance!


SUMMER DANCE: We have extended the ages of the Barbie Dream Week! We had quite a few 7 year olds that wanted to participate, so we raised the age to 10 to allow for everyone that wanted to participate! We are also enrolling for summer session classes - free registration through May 23rd!


FALL DANCE: Recommendations went out yesterday, and we've opened registration beginning today! We have a full class schedule next year, with leveled classes in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop, musical theatre, pom and pointe! We are offering $10 off fall registration through May 23rd!

Barbie Dream Week Dance Camp

Hey Barbie Girl! Wanna come and dance the day away with us? This summer at our Barbie camp you can do exactly that and be whatever kind of Barbie you wanna be! Not only will we will be dancing our hearts out on the dance floor and learning a few steps along the way, we will also make crafts to help us on show day! At the end of the week we will put on a performance that every Barbie and Ken would be proud of and who knows maybe we’ll even make our very own dream house! Whether you are sporty Barbie, artsy Barbie, or anything in between…come dressed in your best barbie style and get ready for lots of FUN and lots of PINK!!!


Please let us know if we should save a spot for your Barbie or Ken! We only have so many spots, so reserve your spot now! You can even register online!

LAST COMPANY COMPETITION OF THE YEAR + INFORMATION ON JOINING THE TEAM!

Our company dancers have their LAST competition of the year at Walled Lake Western High School, Friday May 17 - Sunday, May 19! We will text out the livestream link when it becomes available! Make sure you are on our text list by texting @onpointepa to 81010! Is your dancer interested in joining company next year? Please join us for an informational meeting at Gregs on May 7th at 6pm.

SCHEDULE YOUR RECITAL PICTURES FOR SATURDAY, MAY 11!

Please follow this link to sign up! Even if your dancer has multiple costumes, please just sign up for ONE time slot. This is just their "start time". They may be photographed in as many costumes as you want and we will be rotating dancers as kids are changing outfits. You can plan on about 5 minutes per costume (ex. if you are bringing 4 costumes, plan on about 20 minutes + changing time, and as you are changing outfits, we will be photographing other kids in between). Please be sure to put your DANCERS NAME on the sign-up time slot (in the "comment section")! All recital costumes will now be in before pictures! YAY! If you do not have your dancer's costumes yet, please check with the front desk regarding any balance owed for recital fees.

Recital June 8, 2024 - Rehearsals June 6 & 7

RECITAL SHIRTS, TIGHTS, LOGO GEAR: Please print this order form or grab one at the studio. We need each performer's shirt size as well as female dancer's tight sizes. You may also order pajama pants, shorts, leggings, and additional recital shirts as well as additional tights. Order forms are due Wednesday, May 15th.


JUMBOTRON: With this year's recital theme being “Halftime Show“, we will be having a “Jumbotron” during intermission. There will be fun segments like “Lookalike Cam” and “Guess The Parent”. In order for Mr. Cruz to create this, we need you guys to get those scrapbooks out and get those creative juices going! This is what I need for the certain segments:

  • Lookalike Cam: Use this link to fill out who you think our On Pointe Staff members resemble/lookalike. These can be celebrities, singers ,even cartoon characters!
  • Guess The Parent / Teacher: Old dance pictures of yourself/parent (parents who were previous dancers) and then a current photo of yourself/parent. You can send text these directly to Mr. Cruz at 248.670.4283.

The recital packet has EVERYTHING RECITAL noted in it... but I wanted to share the important stuff here. We also have packets printed at the front desk. Prefer to look online? Find it here.


Monday, May 20th: Backstage Parent Volunteer Meeting at 6pm at Greg's.

This year our backstage volunteers will receive access to recital tickets via presale - not only will you be able to watch from the best seats in the house (backstage) - but you'll be able to secure great seats for your friends and family! Check this spreadsheet (also available at the frontdesk) to find out which group your dancer is in so that you can sign up to volunteer in the right area! You must sign up by May 15th. Sign up ASAP as once the spots are gone WE WILL NOT MAKE ALLOWANCES for additional volunteers. Also, NO ONE EXCEPT VOLUNTEERS WILL BE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE.


Wednesday, May 22nd: Recital tickets go on sale! Tickets are $15 + fees. We will send a link to purchase tickets on May 21st. Please check this spreadsheet (also available at the frontdesk) to determine which recital (1pm or 5pm) to purchase tickets for. In some cases, we are stating that you should purchase tickets to a specific recital even though your performer is in both recitals. That is because not all performances are in both recitals.


Wednesday, June 5th, 8pm: All performers must have a $0 balance in order to perform in the recital.


REHEARSALS + RECITALS: Please check this spreadsheet (also available at the frontdesk) to determine which rehearsal(s) and recital(s) your dancer needs to be at. REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY. Once your performer has rehearsed all their numbers, we will allow them to be checked out to leave. Performers will need to be checked in to go to their dressing rooms and checked out to be able to leave.


  • Thursday, June 6th: Rehearsal, call time 5pm. Begins at 5:30.
  • Friday, June 7th: Rehearsal, call time 4:30pm. Begins at 5:00.
  • Saturday, June 8th: Recitals, call time 12:30pm and 4:30pm. Recitals begin at 1pm and 5pm.


DRESS REHEARSAL + RECITAL HAIR / MAKEUP: Please refer to the RECITAL PACKET (also available at the frontdesk) for specific makeup product recommendations. We are asking that hair be in a low bun with a middle part. Here is a video to help you with makeup application.


HAVE FUN! WE CANNOT WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE'S HARD WORK UP ON THAT STAGE!

On Pointe Company has all your recital and tailgate needs covered! From recital jerseys, flowers, cookie grams to Jimmy John's sandwiches and food trucks for rehearsals and recitals! They are also throwing a tailgate party with games and raffles! Here's what we know at this moment:


Jimmy John's Sandwiches: You can order a Jimmy John's LIL JOHN sandwich box for your performer (and anyone else) to be delivered to rehearsals or for in between the recitals. The cost is TBD, but you can order the sandwiches by following these day specific links: THURSDAY --- FRIDAY --- SATURDAY. If you have questions, please see the contact information on the order forms.


Swag Bags: Swag bags with assorted recital themed merch can be ordered through May 9th. You can order yours here. If you have questions, please see the contact information on the order form.


Recital Flowers and Cookiegrams: We will have flowers and cookiegrams for your performer! You can preorder yours here. Orders are due May 25th. If you have questions, please see the contact information on the order form.

Please join us in wishing a very happy birthday to our Ms. Jennifer! Jennifer received 15 years of dance training in ballet, jazz, lyrical and tap at Terri Newman’s Dance Shoppe in Waterford, MI. While training she had the opportunity to travel and perform in Russia and Poland, spent several summers training and competing all across the United States from Los Angelos to New York City. She has guest taught and choreographed for middle school students at The Chatfield School and middle and high school students at Oakwood Community Church and Lapeer Community Church. Additionally, Jennifer earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and has a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy. Jennifer uses her nearly 20 years of teaching experience to connect with On Pointe dancers to help them utilize dance as a venue for self-expression. Jennifer resides in Lapeer with her husband and three children.

Welcome Letter / Policies / Registration Form / Calendar

Please take a moment to read the welcome letter + policies, and print / fill out the registration forms. If you don't have a printer, we do have printed copies of the registration form at the studio for you to fill out the first week. We also keep the welcome letter, policy information and calendar at the bottom of each monthly newsletter and in the parent portal.

Parent Portal

We highly recommend using the parent portal. All emails that we send to you through DanceStudio-Pro are kept there for easy reference, as well as newsletters, policy information, our welcome letter and calendar. We post recital music and costume information in the portal, including pictures! You can also note upcoming absences! (Music students - please follow the attendance policy to ensure availability of a make-up lesson.) You can see the status of your account and any balance due, any charges posted, even make online payments! You can access the parent portal through any browser or download the app from the App Store or Google Play Here's a video about the parent portal!
